Similar to Angry Birds. Addicting, I will be putting some hours into this game. Lots of achievements, only 90 levels though. I hope they will update it and add more levels.

Warning: Asset Flip!

Merlin vs Zombies is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. It's important to also note the "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. The core of the game seems to be copy + pasted from Angry Zombies by AWD Games, but there's a few things changed around so it doesn't look exactly like the assets the developer stole.
Educational Games have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. One example of Educational Games doing this is Fairy Tower Defense, which is really the "2D Tower Defense" asset, written by the actual developers, Rion5.
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.
The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all).
Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Merlin vs Zombies" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 5 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Merlin vs Zombies is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam.

Level 8 is literally the most faux-difficult to fully 3 star, ESPECIALLY with fireball 2. I spent LITERALLY SECONDS trying and replaying and then I once lost the level and realized this game is GARBAGE. What kind of a game would introduce a mechanic that doesn't even work in the level? These developers need to get their heads out of the sand if they want any hope of a Merlin vs. Zombies 2, or any kind of DLC. I'm honestly appalled.

It's all fun and games until my beloved nephew clicked on the New Game button.
There's no "Are you sure you want to start a new game?", the game just deletes your whole progress.
"Just bad luck" I thought, then the second time I accidentally clicked on the New Game button.
Just imagine you got to level 80 and then have to start again from level 1, you'll know how I felt.
2 days ago I would recommend this game but now, fuck no, stay so so so far away from it, please.

This game is just terrible. It is an angry birds clone that plays terribly. There are better alternatives on Steam to this like "Tennis in the Face". I got this on sale for just 39p but have still requested a refund.

Merlin vs Zombies - game in the style of Angry Birds.
We all know and love a game like Angry Birds, Merlin vs Zombies has the same essence, only without birds, and without pigs. In the role of birds we now have a magician, and in the role of pigs we now have zombies.
Our magician owns five kinds of fireballs, they are our shells for the destruction of zombies, they are all visually different, and have their own special abilities. Also, we can move between the five floors of our castle, in order to take a more comfortable position to hit the target.
Pleasant graphics, 90 different levels and a large number of achievements await you in Merlin vs Zombies.
