Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
You have to start game from Steam Library and choose Oculus VR mode. If you start game from Steam VR it will start with your body being under the ground. Even when choosing Oculus VR mode, my touch controllers did not appear. But then I just restarted and it seemed to work from then on. I recommend a full roomscale setup to play this game.
This could be a GREAT game, instead it's just an okay game for killing some time in VR. However, because of the low normal price and the current sale price of $1.79, I do recommend the game. There's a lot to like in this game, but it's clunkiness brings it down. Just needed more polish.
There are three levels in the game to explore and clear out. As far as I can tell, you're supposed to kill anything that moves in each level. There's a game note that if you kill some creatures with a knife that you'll get meat to gain HP. It is supposed to happen a third of the time with the knife kilsl. I never got said meat to drop. I must be very unlucky. You can also shoot the creatures, but you have very limited ammo. And it's easy to miss, especially the small insects.
Are you scared of snakes? Well not anymore after you play this game. They will come slithering down at you pretty fast and you better be a good shot. I can't imagine trying to knife them when they are so low to the ground. In one level, I was knifing a wasp, a snake, and a bear all at the same time while running backwards. That did not go well for me. There's also dinosaurs in another level. I must admit, the creature modeling and animations are surprisingly well done in this game, especially given how poor the textures are for just about everything else. Even despite the odd low textured world, it still looks not too shabby in VR and you can tell that whoever did the assets in this game is a very talented 3D computer model artist.
You have to physically turn in this game. That's a real bummer. There's all these obstacles that you have to traverse in this world. Climbing up things was especially cumbersome with the control scheme. It was just clunky as hell as well. It was way more difficult just because of the unpredictability of the finnicky controls. Rolling boulders come at you, spikes shoot from wall, you get a nice Indiana Jones feel at times. If Indiana Jones was drunk.
I found the game to be very hard on normal. Mostly because I never found any health potions that you're supposed to get from knifing kills. I don't know if that's a bug or if I missed something, but it seems unfair. After 2-3 encounters you're likely to be near death.
Sale Price Rating 6/10. Really good idea for a game here, just not quite executed well enough to shine bright. But you can ride a rollercoaster throughout the main menu area for some inexplicable reason and, sadly, it's better than most VR rollercoasters.
