Rather sexist and VERY LIGHT on the romance, heavy on plot. If you like that, grab it when it goes on sale for a couple bucks.

overall pretty pleased with the way all of the storylines wrapped up, there could have been more romantic moments but alas. the vampirism part was um... a bit odd... despite all that though, you will surely understand once you play it why hakuoki is one of the classics of otome. there is a lot of content to go through so you'll be in for a long ride but it will be all worth it.

Stories are interesting. Each route has something different to offer.

Unlike the first game, Edo Blossoms has a good amount of romance in each route and the heroine's default name - Chizuru - is voiced! I really appreciate all the effort put into the details and making different backgrounds, even for the 4 out 4 "Give him blood" and "Make him endure" CGs for most love interests. Some good endings are good, some are ok; but to me the major flaw in all routes was the lack of coherence in between the endings and game overs. Personally, I like stories where all routes follow the same general storyline because this makes me feel like the choices actually matter. That way, the story feels cohesive - a great example here is Detroit. But in EB, for example, so far I have played a few routes fully already:
In Saito and Harada's route, MC's father creates a army of Furies that can walk during daytime, but as far as I remember, there's no mention of them at all in Heisuke's route.
Most of the endings/game overs within one singular route branches in a way that doesn't make sense. For example:
In Heisuke's route, choosing the "wrong" option in most of the chapters doesn't impact the MC-LI directly at all; but makes Sen obey Sannan, which leads to the bad ending and game overs.
Baby Okita deserves the world. 🥹
