Solid enough Sword and Sorcery style FPS game. Most of the game takes place in two primary levels, a cave system and then a city. The City is the more interesting of the two. There is a third level as well but it is a lot shorter than the first two, intended more to be a showcase of power than a direct challenge. There's probably 5-8 hours of gameplay here in the first playthrough depending on how long you take.

I've enjoyed playing Elderborn. Difficulty-wise it was just right - challenging enough so it can't really be called easy, but not challenging enough to make you want to rip your shirt off out of frustration. Music was nice, although a bit repetitive, could use a track or two more. I've found I mainly used 2 or 3 weapons out of probably about 10. Boss fights were fairly difficult. Overall, the gameplay was pretty fun and I enjoyed slashing my way forward. There was not much of a story, and that's perfectly fine. Save system uses checkpoints, but it's good as you can find them reasonably often. Since once you die, all enemies respawn, it would really suck if checkpoints were far from each other, and I'm glad they are spread here with just the right frequency.

Slow start. Great combat - if only Elder Scrolls games incorporated something so good. Simple design, but a complex experience. Can highly recommend.
