In Wasteland, humor must come with horror in equal measure, and vice versa. The story never lets up on its commitment to showing you the personhood within an endless winter, the tough and wild souls who perservere despite the end of the world. Life is unbelievably brutal, and the only way to survive is to have a sense of humor.
The plot doesn't lore or exposition dump you, with 30 minute cut scenes to "immerse" you in a deep fantasy. You have three targets to grab, and you're expected to keep the peace. You can choose whatever way you wish to fulfull that mission. Or not, the game really doesn't care. Instead the fun is in the exploration. What kind of bizarre life will you find at the next site, what team configuration do you need to accomplish this task, what will you potentially not be able to do until later? The game trusts that you're an adult and can make your own decisions.
The turn based combat ups the stakes, you cant shoot blindly and hope the AI is dumb. It's like a game of chess; even late into the game if I get a one hit sniper kill I still punch the air. And it feels like there are still things I havent tried (after beating the game twice on a different system). An entirely weird science build. Robot followers. Cyborg build. I tend towards a heavy contingent of big machine gun toting women, but that's just me. I can't recommend this game enough, highly underrated.

I had such fun in Wasteland 2 and I really wanted to love this game... but it feels like it needed another year of refinement before it was released, to balance the gunplay, improve the combat arenas, fix numerous gameplay and UI issues, and so forth.
Let's start with the good though - the story is definately interesting, sending the Rangers to Colorado on a mission to aid a local dictator in return for much-needed food... a directive you can choose to follow or ignore. There's some really good original songs, and the graphics are improved from Wasteland 2 without losing their old-school charm.
As for the bad - combat. The guns have no stopping power. That, combined with all the enemies having multitudes more health than your team (at least on 'hard' difficulty, which is what I played), means there's nothing you can do to prevent enemies running past your lines, tanking your entire squad's ambush attacks, and melee-ing your soldiers to death. And unless your own attacks crit (my tip: put attribute points into luck!), killing enemies feels like chopping down a tree with a dessert spoon.
To add to this, the combat arenas are poorly designed, often with few pieces of cover close enough to shoot the enemy, forcing you to choose between standing in the open and getting shot dead, or having half your squad sit out the fight.
And weirdly, line of sight is broken by doorways - this means that if you set your soldiers in cover at the side of an open door, they can't shoot the enemy unless you have another soldier already in that room.
And while the main story is good, so many of the different factions are sadistic psychopaths that it becomes difficult to take them seriously, especially once you get past capturing the first of the Patriarch's three kids. A bit more variety would have made a big difference. (And I don't mean variety in what costumes the psychopaths wear.)

Loved the gameplay and look of the game but it felt way smaller than Wasteland 2.
Only one real map and not a huge one. The battles get really repetitive very fast and a lot of the choices you make don't feel very meaningful.
In Wasteland 2 you felt like you were working towards a clear goal but also going on all of these side quests with deep self-contained narratives. In Wasteland 3 the whole game feels like one massive quest where all of the things going on alongside the main story line don't actually matter much and never really deviate from the main quest line. There's no "Sandbox feel" to any of it
Worth playing but I still prefer Wasteland 2 over this

Wasteland 3 is an overall enjoyable experience, with its turn based tactical combat standing out as incredibly fun, However, it’s not without its flaws.
The game suffers from persistent technical issues during co-op, with frequent crashes and freezes. Be sure to save often if you plan to play multiplayer. I haven’t tried solo mode, so I can’t comment on that side of things.
The narrative is entertaining and straightforward, but it often underdelivers on its stakes. The game builds up characters only to offer minimal rewards. This tendency can diminish the impact of its storytelling. Additionally, the humor is hit or miss; some jokes work well while others drag on too long.
On the DLC front, Steeltown stands out as a well integrated and essential part of the story, while The Holy Glow should be skipped due to its unengaging plot and reliance on gimmicks, which break the momentum of the main game. It’s just bad, really save your money.
In summary, Wasteland 3 is a good game that delivers a fun, co-op combat experience, despite its technical issues and lack of fixes. Save often and enjoy the ride!

I would have liked a better end game and larger map. But overall, just a very nice game. We need a Wasteland 4...

Extremely fun game. The combat is so addicting. The weapons are varied and the hidden ones are fun to find. However, brawling feels sluggish and shotguns don't hit has hard as pistols do. Snipers and melee weapons are insane. This game reminds me of X-COM but post-apocalyptic. The decisions you make in the game actually matter. Crafting is a nice touch. I like making more ammo or medical supplies. The issue I have is with crafting weapon attachments or armor mods. It feels disorganized. It takes me a while to figure out which one I should craft. The voice acting is superb. Every character feels unique. I kind of wish the custom characters had a little more personality. Overall, great game. Had a blast.

There were some significant changes from Wasteland 2, most of which were needed. Didn't like that they got rid of initiative though, it made encounter outcomes VERY dependant on who went first. The story is pretty good, and its full of wacky NPCs that prevent the game from ever getting dull. Overall an excellent sequel and standalone game.

Best part of this game is it's unique humor. Totally my taste and therefore a really fun game.
The last section of the game feels a bit unpolished and anticlimactic. So don't expect there too much. I think the first third of the game was the most fun and afterwards it was still a pretty good game.
Recommend if you like:
- Decisions
- Skill Trees
- Tactical RPGs
- Dark Humor
Most annoying for me was the balancing of weapons. Some are good in early game but weak in late game and vice versa. So you really should spread out your options.

I haven't played the other Wastelands... but after getting back into tactical RPGs like Rogue Trader (loved it) and Baldur's Gate 3 (Awesome return to D&D), Wasteland 3 (mostly) satisfies that nostalgic Old School Fallout vibe/feel/itch. The tactical gameplay is fun and somewhat varied but some of the systems could have been polished and fleshed out more. Also the the variety of encounters could have been a little better since there was not much need for reevaluating strategies once you found one that worked. Also, initially I didn't understand how some of the attributes and skills actually affected gameplay and leveling. Figured it out but the game doesn't do a great job explaining everything. Some of the world and story could have been more open ended (though you can wander ish). Overall it was great though, with some interesting characters and a story that's serviceable enough to keep you mad maxxing across Colorado. An easy "yes" to purchase on sale.
