I like Sonic Generations. It’s the first Sonic game in years where both Classic and Modern Sonic felt fun to play in their own way. There’s stuff I don’t like and stuff I really do like. But overall, I walked away from Generations thinking one thing. Why didn’t they build on this. The movement is great. Classic Sonic has that chunky, deliberate feel. Modern Sonic has that breakneck boost style that still holds up surprisingly well. Both control schemes are flawed in their own ways, but they each scratch a different itch. And honestly, they nailed the balance between nostalgia and new ideas better than most Sonic games ever have. Stages look beautiful, even by today’s standards. Rooftop Run, Crisis City, Speed Highway. These levels didn’t just get ported over. They got remixed, rebuilt, reimagined. And it works. These aren’t just old stages with a fresh coat of paint. They feel alive again. And the music. Every single remix goes way harder than it needs to. Planet Wisp, City Escape, and Chemical Plant all got insane glow-ups. Sonic Team clearly knew the fans cared about the music, and they delivered. Now for the cracks. Classic Sonic’s physics are weird. Not bad, just... off. Jumping sometimes feels like it ignores your momentum. Spin dashing is wildly inconsistent. Anyone who grew up on Sonic 2 will notice it immediately. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s enough to pull you out of the moment. Also, the hub world is lifeless. It does the job, but it's not fun to explore. It’s just a hallway with doors. No creativity. No reason to linger. The mission system is hit or miss. Some are cool little challenges. Others feel like padding. And while the game looks great, there’s barely anything extra here. No behind-the-scenes stuff, no interviews, no love letter content. Just missions and artwork. It feels like a missed opportunity for a true anniversary celebration. But what bothers me most is how final this game feels. It’s called Generations. It pulled together the best stages from across Sonic’s history. It felt like the start of a new chapter. And then they never followed up on it. No sequel. No expansion of the formula. Nothing. This game could have been a foundation. Instead, it became a time capsule. Still, I recommend it. If you’re a fan of Sonic, this is one of the easiest games to come back to. If you’ve never played Sonic before, this is one of the best introductions out there. It’s not perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s short, focused, fun, and filled with love for what Sonic was and what he could be.

I Disliked the hard level designs and no barriers which makes you fall instantly which is not fun when you try to enjoy the game with speed because once this happens you can't go fast and you're just stuck going at a slow paste because of the level design with no barriers, the 2D Modern sonic parts are horrible would not play them at all. other then that the game is great, the 3D acts are so good (Modern sonic acts) and the classic sonic simple level designs mixed with the classic sonic style of speed is also nice to enjoy (Classic sonic acts) Which is very fun! the game is nice you should check it out, Sega should just add barriers on certain hard acts but it's fine.

good game for the most part. I do find Sonic Generations fun but i really hate how sonic controls in this game. Both classic and modern sonic feel stiff. The levels are designed around this so it never feels unfair but compared to the Adventure games, Sonic just doesn't feel good to control unless he's going blisteringly fast. That being said I do very much enjoy Sonic Generations. It's a good introduction to the series for people who have never played a sonic game or haven't played one in a while (it's basically a greatest hits of sonic levels). The soundtrack is also amazing. The steam version also runs sooooo much better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Overall, I rate this an 8/10.

Great game. I like the way you can play classic levels as modern Sonic. The only challenge with this game is adjusting to the controls when you are going between classic and modern Sonic.

Sonic Generations is a great game. The 3D parts are extremely fun and the soundtrack quickly became one of my most favorite ones out of all games I ever played. City Escape is just perfection. The story is funny and not too complicated. This game is literally peak gaming.

It's got a lot of love that still shines through even though the gaming landscape of today is more dour. Picking music for the stages is awesome. The no hit boss run achievement can be frustrating, but there was a guide video I watched that made it much easier. I think I managed to come back after not playing the game for a long time and get it within 20-30 minutes of trying.

In my opinion, this is the best 3D Sonic game out there. It’s fast, fun, and super satisfying to replay levels (except Planet Wisp i hate you planet wisp) Both Classic and Modern Sonic feel great when the game works with you, but yeah, the movement can get janky. Sometimes Sonic just goes the wrong way or bugs out. It’s annoying but not game-breaking. Red rings are a cool addition. Getting all 5 in a level unlocks new skills for Sonic depending on which version you're using, and it actually makes you want to go back and explore more. The graphics still hold up amazingly well for a 2011 game. The story isn’t much—some scenes are awkwardly quiet or just kinda weird but honestly, you’re here for the gameplay. If you’ve got about £25 to spare, the collection’s worth it. You get this and a few other solid Sonic games too.

I wish I could have enjoyed this game earlier. And I should have played this franchise in chronological order because each title containing a lot of details, gameplay, objectives... from old ones. Both classic 2D & modern 3D acts have colorful and clever stage designs, energetic soundtrack along with an interesting story. The game still has a minor issue, sometime it's frozen about 1-2 seconds while playing. Well for now it's better to grab the remastered version of this game x shadow for better experiences.
