I once tested this game, I had a really fun time and its now so amazing now that I own the game and to see it finally be released on steam! I reccomend this game because the people who put this game together put so much effort into this project, and besides, it's a fun game! PS: There is a train in the backround on certain maps :P

This game is a...wait for it...BLAST! The character and level designs, the cyberpunk noir vibes, the ethereal score, the sound effects...it all adds up to an overall satisfying experience. I was reminded of the squirrely controls of early NES platformers (the Ancient part of Ancient Future), but for me that nostalgia made it even more fun to play. When I was younger, I loved playing the multiplayer battle mode on Mario Bros. 3. The design was simple but with just enough variation to keep me and my friends competing for hours. I can see the same thing with Ancient Future: compact levels, simple enough layouts, a straightforward goal. This is a clutch addition to the online multiplayer brawler community.

When I first came upon this game Ancient Future I honestly didn't know what to think of it. I figured it would be like all the other multiplayer brawler type steam games. I decided to play the game for whatever reason but unfortunatley for me this is the very first day the game came out ! So I didn't get to experience any of the multiplayer aspects of the game or rather I was to impatient to wait for a game to queue up. BUT I spent my money on it already so I had to get something out of it, right? So I played what I could. The only thing available to me was the tutorials, so that's what I did, I played the tutorials... I HAD SO MUCH FUN PLAYING THE TUTORIAL THAT I RECORDED IT FOR MY CHANNEL ! I hope this review is enough to endure the $5 chance on Ancient Future because I am looking forward to being able to play this game with my friends and against online players. Local multiplayer was kinda cool. I only had one friend to play it with but it was quite fun, and I can imagine that if you manage to get a few people together it would be a fun blast. HOWEVER, I tried to play online early on, and there was nobody around, the online game never started. If the online server had some bots to let you spawn into, that would be kinda cool, but sadly it doesn't seem to, so there's only a blank screen to stare at. The graphics are excellent, massive kudos to whoever drew the levels. Excellent bullet animations and first-rate lighting and sound design. If this were a single-player game, it would feel really cool and old school. HOWEVER, it's primarily multi-player skirmish, and as such it does get very repetitive. We found a couple of loadouts that seemed to be much better than others, and once we settled on them, we found that the game became a bit samey. As it is, I'd give it a neutral, perhaps negative review, PURELY because it's very limited in how much entertainment you can get from it, which is a shame because it's clearly a very good engine with a lot of excellent thought gone into it. If they could take out the multiplayer stuff, and convert it to a cool sci-fi cyberpunk style platformer, perhaps with co-op play, that would be awesome. I don't know what to give it... Steam REALLY needs a "neutral", because I feel bad giving this a negative review, since it's so well crafted. However, due to the lack of community, coupled with some glitches and freezes while attempting to play online, and the limited appeal of offline play, I'm going to have to edge towards a negative. This doesn't reflect on the work that went into this though. If you're looking for a fun little PC-based brawler for 2 or more people to play at a LAN party, it's a good laugh... for a little while...
