I loved Final Fantasy Tactics Advance as a kiddo. And this game manages to bring the same sweet feeling back!
This is an homage to FFTA which manages to outgrow its idol. Heartfelt kudos to the Devs! <3
It takes the core gameplay of FFTA and improves upon varies aspects:
- Having a default stockpile of items which are shared between all characters and get automatically resupplied is great - reduces the micromanagement (buying in towns and distributing within party). The item upgrade mechanic let's me own this nontheless
- Same for the guild upgrades that come with the DLCs: Improve the mission system that FFTA had while allowing to customise to my needs & playstyle
- Splitting levelling in EXP and AP levelling is genius: I loved unlocking new classes in FFTA: AP leveling gives me just that while with less grind and faster unlocks via the secondary class for extra abilities. EXP leveling determines which statistics 'grow' based on the class I level with. Combine AP and XP leveling and you get sooooo much great combo potential. Just thinking about it is exciting.
Storywise, I just finished the second temple so I can't really say much, yet so far the story is intriguing and I am looking forward to where the path leads.

Even as a long-time Tactics player, play it on "Veteran" mode on your first play through... Higher difficulties are brutal... that said, really enjoying this tactics game...

Solid turn-based strategy, scratched the itch. Not the deepest systems ever but char/skill progression is pretty good, lots of classes, consistent progress, with plenty of tinkering between battles, allowed flexibility w/ char builds, etc. I played on Veteran difficulty blind and it was decently challenging throughout.
My playtime is very inflated - just left the game open, playing here and there until I finished, but it didn't feel too short nor did it overstay its welcome. Nothing earth-shattering but if you like the genre, esp if it's on sale, it's a good buy.

Orphan of Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre:LUCT, i gave it a try once and didn't really like it at all. Decided to try again, tweaked the settings a bit (injury, etc) and it became a good experience overall.
