The game was flawed on release. The endgame loop was missing a more direct path too gear completion. When the World slayer dlc was added the game felt more complete. The campaign was great, but you need the dlc for the game. I'm would like for them to make more content for the game or make a second Outriders. This game has the potential to be greater then Destiny Back when it was good.

I'm currently at the last zone of the game and I'm stopping to write a review
What seemed to me like an over the top 3rd person looter/shooter is revealed to be a very deep depiction of human nature and our history.
The gameplay in itself is great and it did take me a few years to finally get into this game but being a fan of both Gears of War and Destiny, I always had a feeling I would enjoy playing it
I definitely recommend this game, here's a little list of pros and cons:
Pros:
- World building is really enjoyable
- Simple shoot/loot gameplay that hits that sweet spot if you're into that type of games (Borderlands, Destiny...)
- Gear looks really sick and quite unique, some weapon and armor designs really made me feel like completing my transmog library, you can transmog anything at any time too which is great
- The difficulty is fairly balanced with quite a few demanding encounters, don't expect anything too crazy though if you like difficult games, I wouldn't describe Outriders as one
- The combat takes some getting used to but becomes quite fun imo, making good builds isn't too complicated and makes you feel quite powerful
- THE LORE, I can't stress this enough, I don't how many people are like me and like to read every bit of text when exploring a game but this one is definitely worth it. Reading the lore has brought a whole new aspect to the game and I slowly realised just how deep they went when creating this game's world and story, some of those notes really made me think
- NOT a live service game with bullshit micro transactions and the likes of it, worth mentioning
Cons:
- Gameplay/Combat does feel clunky quite often and although I got used to it after some time, I did let out quite a few insults, mainly due to some enemies attacks being straight up undodgeable or messed up hitboxes, getting stuck on invisible stuff, stuff like that
- I feel like some people will definitely feel like the game is a bit just too repetitive and simple, the fact that you can only equip 3 spells and 3 guns, the ever repeating cycles of "discover new zones, pick up the 3/4 side quests which basically are all the same "kill wave of either humanoid or monster type enemies - listen to dialogue - open door - kill next wave - watch cutscene" formula", being the reason. In the end I'm really glad so much work was done on the lore because without it I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the game as much, that said I'm really not complaining, I'm personally enjoying the gameplay a ton but like I said, I would get it if some would find it boring and repetitive
- Haven't finished the game yet so stay tuned for an update, but I've heard that after finishing the game it lacks in content, maybe so but I feel like it's not one of those games that's meant to be played for thousands of hours, maybe a hundred or two and that's it, I'll probably update my review when reaching the true end game though to give my opinion
Thanks for reading, play this game it's really good!

Big fan of looter shooters and this one is great. Suprisingly badass story, Abilities flow with gameplay well, and weapon mods make you OP. I only wish there was more end game content! Overall solid game tho!

Despite a bad time in the early life of the game, I think it's actually pretty solid these days. Definitely better with friends, and the scaling gets rough towards the end, but overall a good time.

It’s incredibly disheartening to witness a game with such a brilliant concept and engaging storyline falter and fail to deliver on its initial promises. What began as a game bursting with potential quickly devolved following a DLC that not only failed to live up to expectations but also seemed to overlook the core elements that made the game special in the first place. Despite being priced as high as the original game, the DLC offered little value, leaving much to be desired.
Moreover, the game has been plagued by technical issues, from random game crashes to matchmaking disconnects. Although community members have stepped up to provide fixes and workarounds, these problems should have been addressed by the developer long ago. It's also troubling to hear reports that game testers were not compensated for their contributions, reflecting poorly on the developer’s business practices.
The attempts to rejuvenate the game after significant time has passed feel disingenuous, especially to a community that has dwindled significantly. This developer was once a favorite of mine, known for their innovative ideas and quality content. It's a real shame to see such a decline in quality and commitment.
Given the current state of affairs, I find it difficult to recommend this game or its additional content at full price. If the entire game, including the DLC, ever drops below $15, it might be worth considering for the storyline alone, but be aware that the community is largely inactive. This is just a warning for those thinking about investing their time and money. As for myself, this experience has made me cautious about future purchases from this developer.
