I didn't know what to expect when I picked this game, but I didn't expect a humorous & heart-warming game that would capture my attention. I recommend this game for anyone looking for a mix of dungeon crawler roguelike + dating sim. I love that this game has support for all orientations, and you can run a full-friendship game without consequences. The music score I have saved, it is so well constructed. The art is impeccable.
Pros: the art, the music, the animation, the story. Cons: mechanics can be a bit clunky in the dungeon, time pressure instituted at the end of the game (unclear if it's a false pressure or not).

Boyfriend dungeon is one of the better queer dating games I've seen out there. It has the goofyness of regular visual novel dating games combined with a variety of choices such as polyamory, the choice to be in a platonic romance with everyone if your ace, and even the option to straight up say no to people. It does, however, touch on very REAL topics from the queer community such as stalking and abuse, even
including someone who "likes" weapons but only ends up using them.
For that, you do need to be careful playing this game. Know your limits, take breaks when you need to. As someone who is ace-spec as well, there was one other character who made me slightly uncomfy
by being very forward at all times, you can just turn him down and he will respect that,
but it may make anyone who is ace slightly uncomfortable with that character. This game also gives 3 different pronoun options which was very nice to see, and one character later in the game even is referred to by both she/her and they/them pronouns which was nice to see. Overall, very good game, very queer friendly, lots of important discussions in the game.

Boyfriend Dungeon is set in a beach side town where you yield weapons that turn into people who you can smooch (or take the platonic route if you prefer). The game starts off with a really good pace. It doesn't overwhelm you with dating options because they are slowly introduced as you progress through the plot. However this is a double edged sword (wink)! I found myself more drawn to the early weapons/date options because I had already leveled them up more and it was easier to progress with them.
One of my favorite characters- Leah, an Ice Skating instructor fashionista who turns into a hammer, was not introduced until the game was almost over. Overall, the game has some really fun mechanics, cute dates, and some interesting combat styles that are tied to each weapon. But there is not much that varies from one run to another other than the weapon you choose. Also, only having three rather small dungeons felt rather brief. I was hoping for four. But imo it is always better to be left wanting more with a game than throwing in the towel because of filler content.

One of the best dating sims I have played. Very straight-forward, unique game play, and a wide variety of weapons and outfits make for a great rogue-like.

Such a fun game with plenty of unique characters to get to know! I appreciated how inclusive it was with the characters, stories, and skill level. It has replayability and good value for what I paid. Would recommend to anyone that enjoys a rogue like with a romantic twist.

Despite some initial hesitation, I really enjoyed this one.
Overall, I would recommend the game to people who like dating sims and maybe want something a little unique, action oriented, and more adventurous than a visual novel or interactive fiction. Each character has their own little story, and all of them are unique from each other. Plus, I found the animations very aesthetically pleasing.
There are 3 dungeons, each different, although sometimes the design of the levels within the dungeon felt a little redundant. However, not so much so that I quit playing. The monsters within the dungeons were creative and sometimes really goofy, but enjoyable to duke it out with. The weapons are each different from one another and it's fun to use the combos and different moves. By the time to finish a level, there is a sense of achievement -- and the highlight summary of your level accomplishments gave me a dopamine kick, at least.
Additionally, the game includes elements of crafting, gathering resources, looking for secrets and shopping around for materials or whatnot. It basically has enough different elements in the overall play experience that could satisfy somebody who likes the novelty of multiple things happening all at once.

Found the game fun. I love that you can date a bunch of different characters and try out all the different weapons. Dungeons are decently challenging but not impossibly hard. Works great on my steam deck too.

Cute rogue-like/dating sim. You can either romance the characters or play completely platonic as friends.
Very cute game, 3rd dungeon is a bit challenging to complete but still fun none the less. Highly recommend!

Normally I don't write reviews but I feel like I had to for this game after sitting on this for a while.
I bought this game on sale thinking that it would be a win-win scenario since I like both dating sims and roguelike games.
However, my experience turned out to be not as favourable as I thought it would be.
Visual Novel/ Dating Sim aspect
Pretty basic format of receiving texts from characters, meeting them in town and upping their affection through using their weapons in dungeons. No problems there.
The plot is pretty basic but I will be honest in saying that the climax felt extremely lacklustre in comparison to what it felt like they were building up to. The potential was there but I found myself getting disappointed and trying to hold it together in the final fight I just wanted to finish the game.
I tried really hard to like the characters. I really did but I found that some of the dialogue felt unnatural and some of the characters felt pretty shallow. So, I didn't really find myself getting attached to any of the characters and just went for whoever was easiest to use in the dungeons. The endings didn't really help either. I'm aware because of the setting, there really wasn't a lot of room for something of a deeper relationship but the endings either had me feeling empty or that it was all a waste of time. Not in a sense that I wish I didn't play the game but I felt bad that I had put all this time into getting to try to know these people only for me to basically just kind of dust off my hands and be like 'whelp that was fun!'
Gameplay
It took a bit to get used to. Especially with the heavier weapons which I did't really end up liking no matter how much I tried to force myself to use them.
I didn't hate the combat but it got really repetitive in a way that didn't have me looking forward to playing dungeons even though I needed to. I found myself wanting to rush through dungeons rather than taking a more reasonable pace like I had done in the beginning.
I'm not sure if I could give a proper number rating but this game left me feeling really empty and just wondering what could have been.
