I'm not 1 to play a platformer but I saw my friend Sean (AKA BrushForHire on Twitch) playing this during his lunch break 1 day. Then when it came on sale I got it and it's still the only platformer game I've played for more than 1 hour without wanting to throw my device :D . I highly recommend you give it a try if you find most platformer games pooring.

I would probably like this game if it wasn't for controls that i can't configure, if devs add this option i will for sure reconsider this game.

Its a pretty funny side scrolling runner. Its a great way to get a couple laughs after playing other more frustrating games. The animations are great and the voice acting alongside with the crude violence against food items are really what makes this game a gem. Definitely worth the 5$ cause you can always come back to it for a mood boost.

This game is so good. The audio, the art, the humor, the design - it's all really impressive for a small team. I hope the devs add a way to re-bind controls. They don't take long to get used to, but I'd like to play two handed. Every little joke, animation and level design has had a lot of care put into it. Serious kudos, Mega Dwarf.

This game is a lot of fun. I'm a long time fan of runner games and this one has a cool spin on the concept. Having bosses and a little story makes it feel like a cross between a typical runner and an adventure game. Fun stuff, would definitely recommend.

Humour Shank n' Bake has a problem with humor direction. Screaming just for the sake of screaming is not fun. You can play "Tormentor X Punisher" to find similar manner of swearing, laughs and whining 'after death', but in a funny way. In Tormentor after player loses match a goblin appears with like 20 jokes to tell. Every one of his jokes mokes you down and tries to show how strong he is (but he wasn't even fighting you to begin with). This is hilarious! In Shank your hero dies and starts yelling like kid who wants toy for no reason. I mean, dude, you have knife and kill everyone around, what else you expect? And why would he whine when dieing to pits or knifes? During story telling he literally WANTS to be eaten by humans. Trailer was nice, but that's it. I haven't found dieing rewarding here. Progression There is none, can you imagine?! I mean, runners genre has persistant upgrades system to keep you busy. Take for example "Burito Bison" — when hero dies, there are some power ups you can unlock and improve, as well as max speed, dmg or skills, new heroes and new mechanics. In Shank there is absolutely nothing. Some visual clothes only, but they don't improve survival chances. You can't customise voice, attack animation, height etc. In other words, game will not hold you for long. There are lots of free to play runners with upgrades or other ways to deliver prolongued fun. Random generation So, upon launching free old "Running Fred" you gonna find few huge bioms with unique traps, visuals, challanges and leaderboards, as well as difficulty tiers. And all in 3D, which open ups lots of different possibilities. In Shank you'll see all it has to offer in about 20 minutes. That is very sad. Player can only jump, duck and slice — all traps requiring just that. While there are few backgrounds, they deliver nothing special to gameplay. First boss also the same every time and has only one long death animation. He is boring. Music Some of the music tracks are good in Shank, some are bad, but overall they don't mix up. You can't just put different music styles in a single game and call it a day. There were two browser titles with such magnificent music that you could launch them just to listen (Ninja Slash and Endless Evil). Same goes for Super Hexagon and a lot of android projects. As for Shank, it just isn't right. Simply stop right here go to youtube and search for games i mentioned, listen to music and your ears will send you endless stream of joy. For free. Final Score Shank n' Bake has no content, no upgrades, no fun and actually nothing new. I was waiting for it's release like for 2 years, that is a lot of time to make your game shine. But what did i get? Mediocre grapchics, ear-bleeding screams, borrowed phrases (like "eat s**t") and overall sillyness. This is not Steam Quality, this is not even PC nor Browser quality. Maaaybe if it would get released in 2005, somewhere on armor games, then sure why not. But here and now? It looks like creators decided to scream into new mic to test it and figured "that could probably get sold as a game!".

Ahh yes... I remembered that one time when I was at the Steam Winter Sale of 2019 and found this after playing Cute Things Dying Violently... I just wishlisted that game because it looks interesting, and had a cute little muffin. But when I watched the trailer on the Store page once... It was violent... really violent... it's like Sausage Party, but in a video game. I liked eating Chocco's heart... yum ^_^ But the only boss I hate was Milk Man. I've practiced and dodged a bunch of obstacles... but the worst obstacle on this game... were triple egg beaters! I'll get him next time... soon! 7.5/10 gud game with a cute husbando as a protagonist Heheh, Muffin go stabby stab :P

Who doesn't like a side scroll game? Especially when you are a homicidal muffin slashing your way through each level against all those horrid foods. Damn berries...and that egg. Yolk's on you and I'm coming after ya'll!

Shank n' Bake is a really fun side-scroll, hack and slash game. Definitely an outlet for a bad day or whatever. I love the violence and profanity, especially when Miff unfortunately dies because I suck. Still a challenging game and fun to just casually start up and beat the shit out of things.

This game has had a really long development cycle. I've been waiting since twenty-seventeen, and I'm glad I have something like this to fill my time with (especially now, given the bizarre circumstances many of us are in). Was it worth the wait? I mean, for someone who's been hanging around for this long, I think I'm just glad that it's finally here-- so I'd say, "Yeah." But I'm also biased. It's a simplistic runner with character customization, numerous death screens (as well as a hyper-aware loading screen), gore, and crude humor, meaning this leads to an overall very enjoyable experience. Well, it's enjoyable if you don't mind dying a lot. There's also some random lag that pops up occasionally, which can destroy a near-perfect run-- and I'm sure this will be fixed in a future update. Other than that, I'm very happy with this product. It is worth five bucks, without a doubt. I only hope the developer considers adding more levels and bosses...and maybe a few more enemies.
