Wow looks fun doesn't it...
YOUR WRONG. TRY GETTING A SERVER, IF THIS GAME DID USE A POTATO FOR A SERVER THE GAME COULD SUPPORT MORE THAN 2 LOBBIES.
But it is fun...
If you can connect.

I WANTED TO LOVE YOU. I thought a team 17 game (worms) was going to be a lot of fun on the planetary scale. But in worms, "close enough" is good enough, but in this game, it's usually going to result in no effect if they can repair next turn.
tl;dr - if you enjoy battleship, you will enjoy this game. If you want a more finely tuned Worms-like experience, this isn't it.
So there's three phases to the game: An opening, a middle, and an endgame. The opening starts out well enough, but play it enough and you'll realize the opening is just really "build mines, rush nuclear power and missiles, and build intel". The problem is the starting weapons and defenses are just about useless. The rail gun cannot make precision shots on targets on the planet, and since the offensive weapons in the opening phase are inaccurate, there's no reason to waste resources defending against them either. They might get lucky and land a rail gun shot on a city or production building, but most likely not and they certainly won't repeat it. The same goes for you as you're just throwing rail gun shots at a planet and they might hit something, but they most likely won't.
The middle of the game gets fun once you have missiles, because the missiles allow you to make strategic decisions about what to target. Computer players will probably go for stealth here, but human players typically go for coil guns. The MIRV upgrade makes the first kinetic defense useless, so you didn't build any of those, right? The problem is the stealth: The computer will rely on it, but I've never seen a human player use it to any effect. Since you still pick where the missile lands, even if you're firing blindly, you get a message about damaging a city or structure if you hit it even if it's concealed. Effectively you just shoot the same spot until you get the destruction message and move on. Who cares what was there? Stealth is also sort of bugged in the game - things you previously revealed simply vanish when they're stealthed again, but it's not like they moved around. That building or city is still there, but the game won't show you it. If you simply take a picture with your phone, you can "cheat", even though it makes precious little sense from a gameplay perspective. The middle of the game is the most fun because you have the most strategic options.
The endgame is a mess. The superweapons don't feel so super. The solar laser can make unstoppable shots on planets - if the laser and the planet have a direct line of sight and if the target is facing the sun. Its best used to nail power plants so your more conventional weapons can do damage. In fact, since shields can lessen the damage from lasers, there's not much more strategy here than "hit the power plant powering the defense before the MIRV arrives". I haven't seen a planet that was not spinning so you will always be able to hit something on the planet.
The nuke is also unstoppable. Even if the nuke is shot down by defense structures, the fallout will cause damage over time. Fortunately you can only build one of them. But maybe for the pace of gameplay you should be able to build more.
The Asteroid shot is underwhelming. Imagine 8 rail gun shots hitting the planet, also unstoppable. I expected the winter that killed the dinosaurs but instead it just seemed like a minor inconvenience. There were more than a few games where the asteroids hit the planet but didn't actually hit anything.
Finally the pacing of the endgame is the same as battleship. You know what I'm talking about. It's down to you and another planet (almost always the innermost and outermost planets) and you're just passing turns waiting for the other planets and sun to get out of your way so you can make a shot. You could YOLO a few missiles at them, or hope a laser can thread the needle across the solar system, but typically the game is "next turn" until you get within reasonable range. To add to the frustration, there always seems to be one city left with two population which is never in a good spot for a shot once the planets are in range. You might have to wait another orbit (especially if you rely too heavily on lasers) to actually be able to hit that city. And if the city has stealth bonuses, you might be guessing where that city is if you didn't take that camera phone picture. It feels like the end of battleship where two players are just shooting randomly looking for that two post PT boat rather than having fun.
So yeah, my suggestion is - superweapons need to be one shot kills. The end-screen of the planet even shows a planet be cracked open by something while your people cheer. Otherwise, get ready for a much longer game than it needs to be.

Very, very fun with friends. Shoot railguns at each other if you like trickshots, and build lasers if you're just here to fucking KILL hundreds of millions of people.
