This game is a good demonstration of what a passionate lone indie developper can achieve by putting assets to good use and with a good dose of hard work. It's not without its flaws: animations aren't great, especially for the playable characters; the lighting, including the flashlight, leaves A LOT to be desired; and the enemies lack in both variety and depth (they bum rush you and try to slash you, most times unsuccessfully). The old-school RE camera system isn't for everyone, but it's more of an artistic choice than a flaw (although some camera angles aren't too great). This is a coop game, which is a rather ambitious undertaking for a lone developper (note: I only played it solo), however, it lacks ambition in most other aspects. All the weapons feel the same, there is no real story, no environmental storytelling (you just read notes and diaries), and nothing ever happens, at least in the first two maps. It's barebone resident evil, and while it works overall pretty well, it feels more like a series of demo levels than an actual game. In the end, I do recommend this game to people curious to see what a solo indie dev can achieve, to get a quick fix of resident Evil Outbreak with a friend, and perhaps as a source of inspiration, but not to people looking for a fully fleshed out experience. For the 13€ it costs, you get your money's worth, but no more. It might be wise to wait for a sale to grab it.

Its like Resident Evil Outbreak spinoffs that I've played before but I could never find a game to play with people at the time. This is a cool work-in-progress game so far. It's best experienced with friends as suggested though. Pick this up if you're into classic resident evil style gameplay like RE remake and zero!

Tbh I think this game targets a very small niche of players and if you're not in that niche you probably won't like it. If you: - Love the older Resident Evil games despite how janky they can be (because trust me this game has all that jank) - Simultaneously accept that this isn't RE:Outbreak 3, and doesn't have a lot of the features from those games like shouldering injured allies, infection, holding doors open, or barricading - Don't care about a game's visual integrity or graphics, meaning you're fine with clipping, graphical glitches, and meh animations - Own a controller (because this would feel like a mess on keyboard) - Have a friend or two who also meets the above requirements Then yes, this game can be a blast, but I can see why the reviews are mixed and a lot of people haven't felt the same. It's a diamond in the rough, but at the end of the day I think it's at least fun and that's all a game really needs to be. Plus, bonus points for having multiple unique playable characters with different attributes, abilities, and upgrades. One of my favorite parts of RE games is how they differentiate the characters (all the unique abilities of the Outbreak cast, and the various different strengths/weaknesses usually found between the two protagonists of any mainline title) so it's nice to see that expressed in a simple but effective way.

My first time playing, it took a little while to get used to the controls, but after that, it wasn't really a problem for me. I only played the single player mode so far, but co-op seems to be a main aspect of the game. I played for almost 2 hours so far, and I still haven't gotten very far, so the difficulty is pretty good (or maybe I just suck). There is a ton of potential here, and the game is continuing to improve. Yesterday I couldn't move the map, but today I can. What's currently in the game is really just the beginning.

The game is inspired from RE:Outbreak and has some similar features like fixed camera angles and the controls are RE like. The levels looks pretty decent and sometimes even good, but the animations are pretty meh, but at least it works. There is quite a chunk of content here and the achievements aren't buggy. There is a level system and different survivors with traits plus different skills to unlock. The multiplayer is pretty much dead, but you can always host your own game with friends so no big deal here. What I hate the most though is the permanent respawn of zombies. It has a cooldown, but it's pretty short so the player is forced to run or kill it. This can be fun at the first, but it gets too repetitive on the long run. Some levels has puzzles so this can get very frustating combined with the respawn mechanic. You have to find a solution while running away or combat with zombies which is just a pain in the butt. Another thing is that the zombies are fast and moving between camera angles are risky because you might bump into a zombie while doing it. The last thing is that they can poison you by puking a green weird looking fireball on a very short time. Unlike the puking on RE which happens slowly and mostly on stairs this attack here happens randomly and sometimes very fast after a normal attack. Overall it's a decent game despite it's flaws and it was developed by one person so I expected it to be worse, but it was quite enjoyable.

Awesome game! Takes a page right out of the book of the classic RE:Outbreak games. This is one of the funnest hardcore titles I've played in a very long time. Note the early access is real with this game, although I didn't encounter a massive amount of bugs, there is less content than you'd expect from a finished game (because it's not finished) Theres only about 5 different enemy types, 6 or so guns, 2 or 3 different melee weapons (got to be crazy to use those anyways) and only one scenario at the moment not including the tutorial one. The game also has a game mode called onslaught mode which puts you in an alternative version of the main scenario where you and your friends fight off waves of enemies for as long as you can while scouring the map for respawning loot. The developer has assured me that their next big step is to add the 2nd scenario, that being the case I highly recommend this game if you're into hardcore survival games and even more so if you're into the old RE franchise as I am. Cheers and happy hunting!

I had high hopes for this game as a buddy of mine and I used to love playing Resident Evil Outbreak. I saw it, knew it was incomplete and still jumped at the chance to support the developer and this grand idea. Outbreak this is not. Seeing that this game is now marked COMPLETE is lunacy. I feel the need to apologise to my friend for convincing him to waste his money on an incomplete and practically unplayable game. The graphics I could look past. What I can't look past is the following: -God awful character animations -How absolutely shit and non reactive the zombies are; the combat is straight garbage, which shouldn't be that hard considering how slow paced RE combat is. -The camera angles which are a MAJOR part of the appeal are sloppy as hell and loaded with blind spots in key areas. This is an unfinished, unpolished turd with loads of potential that will never be met. I can't play this game for more than 5 minutes without wanting to vomit all over my screen. Thanks for taking my money and getting my hopes up. Take your 13 dollars and send it to capcom and ask them to revive the Outbreak servers; you'll get no results and still be less dissapointed than if you spend your money on this.. thing.

Look, I appreciate the developer's efforts to give us a Resident Evil Outbreak experience but this is just unbearable. The graphics is bad, the animation is so stiff and there's only 1 for many actions (holding a pistol, shotgun, rifle, magnum, grenade launcher is the same clipping mess of a stance). The feedback and recoil when firing a weapon or using a melee is the absolute worst, neither the players nor the monsters even react to the recoil or the impact of the shot. The music is extremely generic and ruins the atmostphere. The walking/running animation is extremely bad, it's neither unique in an artstyle nor fitting to a realistic setting. The walking looks straight out of roblox with the exaggerated swaying and the running is horribly bad with the desync in speed causing the characters to look like they're sliding. I played the original Outbreak games and could not stomach this game after the tutorial

Outbreak The New Nightmare is a Resident Evil based zombie game where the players will play as survivors trying to fight for their lives against the zombie threat. This is a 4 player co-op game and its all about helping eachother because if you die just once in a match you can't respawn so you need to be careful on what way you fight the zombies. This game is just like Resident Evil because the game uses camera angles, an inventory system and a health system which is described as Fine, Warning, Caution, Poison or Danger. Pros: + 6 characters with their own backstory, buffs, debuffs, stats and perks. Every one has their own stats that can be improved by gaining levels. + Many different scenerios to play on. (maps) + The game is not easy on single player so players will need to be smart to survive. + Teamwork is important in the game because you need teammates to support you with ammo or medical items, help you progress through the match you're playing on and prevent you from dying just once and have to spectate for the rest of the game. + the game is very challanging on higher difficulty levels! Even in Multiplayer! + You need to manage your limited inventory so you need to make decisions on what you take or leave. + 3 modes named Campaign mode which is the story, Onslaught mode which is an endless wave mode that gets harder the more players progress and Experiments mode which is other objectives and challanges. + It does not matter if someone elses kills an enemy and gets the xp for the kill. Everyone gets the xp everytime someone kills an enemy. + Different types of enemies players will encounter. Cons: - The game needs more popularity. - The codes that are used for puzzles are not randomized and this will lead to players remembering the codes and easily progress to the next objective. - The Ai needs to be improved a little bit. Zombies sometimes walk into doors that are locked until it is unlock by a player that uses a key or walk into a wall which can be easy targets for players. - It needs more intense atmosphere and music to make it a horror game. Right now l am enjoying this game and l do recommend it to people who have played Resident Evil or really enjoy zombie survival games. I cannot wait for the upcomming content that is comming to this game! I am wondering if there is going to be DLC or extra content after the release of this game or even character appearence customization if possible.

Edit: Updated 04.07.17 I highly praise this game for even attempting this genre, which almost got forgotten......but at the same time its not a game I would come back to. (at least not in Early Access)
Pros:
+ the developer is listening to the community + controller support for Xbox and PS4 controller + the fixed camera angles are really good for the most part + a good horror atmosphere + 4 characters + online coop (I couldnt test it, since its launch day and nobody is online) + offline singleplayer + it captures the look of a RE game pretty nicely (menus, item screen, etc) + zombies have ragdoll
Cons:
- if you expect to play a game, there is almost nothing here, its just on Steam to get more funding, which is a higher risk considering this game is developed by one single guy - there are 2 different modes which are basically the same exact thing, In horde mode you gotta kill waves of zombies but in Outbreak you gotta kill a lot of zombies from point A to point B.....there are no puzzles in the game right now. Thats the very first thing that immediately hit me.....Resident Evil was never just about killing zombies - the story is not worth following - items sparkle comedically to be noticed - zombies dead bodies disappear almost immediately - no tank controls, I seriously would have liked that here, but thats just opinion, instead its a direct control with kinda awkward feel to it, but it works okay (Update: tank controls are an option now, with quick turn mechanic) - the map is very dull, there is almost no point in exploring or looking at stuff, as the items almost always are placed in plain view, no need to search cupboards and such - its nowhere near like RE Outbreak, remember characters holding doors for others or putting something infront of a door (like nailing boards or pushing a barrel) to block zombies, nothing of this is in the game - the biggest flaw in the game is.....there is absolutely no strategy or survival. In RE you could escape from zombies because rooms were divided in segments with loading times inbetween, here it is one single map and you have to kill every single zombie you see or it will hunt you forever.....no conserving ammo, you just have to kill it and of course there is not enough ammo....also the zombies are pretty fast, you will definitely die, but not because of your skill, but because of the poorly designed balance - melee is useless (actually, that is exactly like in RE) - some things back in the day were good and some are really outdated nowadays and this game didnt even attempt to iron out the flaws the original RE had, like quick switching weapons, not having to equip a key for a door from the menu all the time, where are the things that were fixed in newer games? - the characters are not very well thought out, and some of them are bound to never be played - the tutorial explained the most obvious thing, like how to walk, but not how to shoot and reload (I mean its fairly easy but still, for people that might not know these games) - the walking animation is terrible (but I guess thats going to change sooner or later) Like I said, I love that someone is tackling this genre, but Im not excited for this game right here. And I honestly dont think this will be something cool in the future, even for this low price. If you wanna check it out, bring a friend directly with you, otherwise its too dull and boring right now.
