I just finished this game because I couldn't leave it unfinished. I can see why some people love this series and it's definitely cool. That said, it's not my style.

Certainly the most serious story of the Yakuza games I've played (Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth). Props for that. Beat-em up isn't as enticing to me, but the story and sidequests are funny, throughtful, etc. Good.

Absolute fucking masterpiece of a game. Nothing else can give such emotional story-lines while still giving you the silliest shit you've ever seen in your life, its almost effortless with how well they've managed to blend the two and still make it coherent. Personally I played for the main story and not much else but god is this fucking game great, not to mention it runs pretty well on my shitbox of a laptop. I feel like some of the deaths were way too quick however and many characters tend to get the short end of the stick, but I understand that this game is mainly just world building for its predecessors, which I am absolutely on my way to play when I get off for break. I've been playing this game for days straight from when I downloaded it, Couldn't keep my brain away from it. Every free moment I've had has been dedicated to this game and I already know I'm going to be sad when I finish it completely. I will never be able to play this game for the first time again, and I finally know why people say that about media now. I've NEVER been so captivated by a game. I will definitely be holding this game dear to me after its done. Absolutely recommend you play, there is something for everyone here, you cant beat it for the price either, I got it on sale and i'd absolutely pay full price for it too.

I finally finished Yakuza 0 after all these years! It’s been on my list forever, but every time I’d start it, I’d either get distracted by another game or just not get fully into it. Now that I’ve actually played it through, I kinda regret not finishing it sooner. Yakuza 0 is honestly one of the best prequels out there—maybe even the best. Just like the title says, the story starts from zero and introduces you to two of the franchise's most important characters: Kiryu and Majima. The thing that really pulled me into Yakuza 0 was the combat system. I’m a huge fan of fighting games and combat mechanics in general, so when I saw the trailers and gameplay, I was instantly hooked. At first, I thought the game would mainly focus on its awesome gameplay, but it turns out Yakuza 0 is way more than that. The story and the way it’s told are absolutely beautiful. There’s a crazy amount of attention to detail, both big and small. When you really dive deep into the game, you start to realize that what makes Yakuza stand out isn’t just the gameplay or the graphics—it’s the storytelling. I honestly think it has one of the best narratives in all of gaming. The way the characters’ stories intertwine is so well done that it just pulls you in completely. At first the characters might not seem that interesting (I mean, I was kinda sad when I first had to play as Majima because I liked Kiryu more), but as the story moves forward, you end up falling in love with all of them. For me, Majima actually became my favorite character in the whole game, and now he’s one of my favorite characters in all of gaming. Even the side characters and antagonists are super well-written and memorable. I loved the rivalry between Kuze and Kiryu, the friendship between Kiryu and Nishiki, the weird hate between Sagawa and Majima, the chemistry between Majima and Makoto… so many great dynamics. Every character brings something special to the table—even that crazy Nishitani! Another huge highlight of the game is definitely the side missions, or "substories." One of the biggest problems with some game developers is that they create pointless side quests just to boost the game's playtime (yes, I’m talking about Ubisoft). But in my opinion, side quests should feel like their own little stories—and Yakuza 0 nails this. Each substory has its own plot, and they completely immerse you in the world. A lot of them are super funny too, and they actually made me laugh a bunch of times. When it comes to soundtrack man, there’s nothing more to say. It’s amazing. I’m 100% adding the Yakuza 0 soundtrack to my playlist. Ever asked yourself what the most fun game ever is? Yakuza 0 might just be it. There’s so much stuff to do: dancing at the disco, karaoke, underground fighting tournaments, watching erotic videos!, running businesses, and way more.... So yeah, Yakuza 0 absolutely deserves a spot on the list of the greatest games of all time. It nails every aspect—gameplay, story, music, voice acting—you name it. If you haven’t played it yet and are even a little curious, don’t make the same mistake I did. Go play it now, because it’s seriously one of the best gaming experiences you’ll ever have.

I bought this game 3 years ago, played for 3 hours and quit because it was too slow for me. About 2 months ago I bought "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth" so I decided to give this game a second chance in order to "prepare" for that game. Best decision ever! peak game, peak characters, peak story, peak side content!! a lot of modern open world games should take notes. please play this game, even if the start is a bit slow for your taste.
EXTREME ELABORATED ADVENTURE

PROS
STORY -> Extremely well written story consisting of 2 protagonist whose lives are intertwined in this mafia crime thriller. Twists and turns, gut wrenching, energetic, love bound and compassionate moments. One of the best stories I have ever experienced. CHARACTERS -> All the major characters are super memorable and have multi-layer depth persona that uncovers down the line. The people and world keeps growing as story moves forwards with top-notch voice acting. GAMEPLAY -> Both protagonists have unique fighting styles offering huge variety, along with complex combos and anime style dramatic moments. MUSIC + GRAPHICS -> From energetic combat music to serene cutscene music, it had good variety along with good graphics capturing characters with serious amount of details.

CONS
- clunky movement and unfair stagger against bosses. - many Side quest automatically start when nearby and gang beat-ups break the flow of game. - Way too many unskippable filler dialogues (apart from cutscenes). - no English dub so I had to read captions and couldn't look at characters. - can't delete save file, copy someone's save file, save action bugged many times.

VERDICT
There are a few issues but, story and character makes up for everything and takes it even beyond. Game is solid 9.5/10, all things considered.

Yakuza 0 is an emotional rollercoaster that will captivate the heart of every player. It has everything, pure unfiltered action, some of the funniest (imo) comedy in gaming and a heartbreaking story about 2 people fighting their way through the terrifying world of 1980' Japan. The gameplay is smooth and really well done, once you get the hang of it you breeze through every enemy, but it never becomes "too easy". The sidestories are very creative and funny, you never know what will happen next! And the story is something I never knew would impact me this much. The relationship between Kiryu and Nishikiyama, Majima's entire Arc, it was amazing till the end. I can't wait to see what future instalments have in store!
