This DLC is basically evidence that there is not one team behind Syrian Warfare but multiple. Even putting aside the story (that just got extremly boring and repetetive at this point) the DLC just managed to break basically every system in the game. Planning strategically with your command points? Even in highest difficulty you get so many, you literally just don't buy the worst units. Anything easier than that you quickly run out of units to buy. Limited troops in missions so you have to decide who you bring with? Yes but now you just take all of the best troops and vehicles and just leave the rest as backup in the garrison. You'll have way more troops than you need 99% of the time anyways. Interesting and strategic missions with multiple secondary targets you need to decide between? Nah, now secondary targets just become primary targets you need to fullfill after you did the primary ones. Not even mentioning how many "And now charge positions with a bunch of troops!" Missions you now have, with maps that barely have anything on them (which was okay when you had small maps with small engagements before, but now it's huge, empty maps). And the AI is just broken at this point. It was already quite bad in syrian warfare, but now the AI just sometimes fires with weapons way bejond their range and kills off some of your specialist troops.

A great continuation to a great game. does not have a well made story but i still enjoyed the fact that we get a new campaing and new units with the legend Uncle Mansur in the mix.

Really another fun addition to the game, not that many new units are added but enough to create a different atmosphere to gameplay. I like the uparmored units the most!. Campaign is shorter than original game but missions are big and has side quests that can force you to multitask during critical times, you will get reinforcements as you reach new milestones. You''ll get to learn when to use infantry and armor based on the situation, and you'll get to be on defence (for the most case) and offence, both styles are fun and challenging. Love all the management options like repair, refuel, rearm, and capture units. The management system is not complicated but ensures player will feel each unit is important. This is an RTS game where units are not disposable and replaceable like Red Alert for example. Be aware: The crash on load problem is still happening but less often.

Simply as awesome as the main game. If you liked the main game and want some more - buy this DLC. Though there are only 5 missions, but those 5 missions are very epic, especially the last 2

Good addition to the Syrian Warfare. I liked the upgraded T-55s and T-62s that were added since it made them a lot more useful and dangerous late game. The new SPG infantry and technicals were also good. Additionally, the improved AI made a big difference in game play as you can't leave knocked out enemy tanks alone without their crews putting them back into action. Mission 1 and 2 were amazing!! A lot more difficult and fun to play compared to the missions of the main game. However, the last two (especially 5) felt rushed and repetative with the final mission just being a simple "search and destroy" mission largely devoid of any serious obsticles. Overall, this DLC is definitly worth it just for missions 1-3 and playing around with the new equipment and infantry.

Great expansion for one of the best RTS games released in the last few years. Once more you can look forward to intense and rather demanding missions (be sure to use pause function alot) and a few new units to spice things up. I really hope that Cats who play keep releasing new DLCs, they will certainly get my money every time they do. One thing that is still missing is the skirmish mode and/or multiplayer though, hopefully those will get added in the future. Other than that there is nothing for me to complain about.

Solid new DLC for great base game. New missions to play with samekind challenge as in main game. If you like realistic RTS this is game for you. Missions are intensive and you have to be awake all time. I recomend this and basegame to any RTS fans out there.

"This is Black Cobra. We're under heavy fire." "What Black Cobra? Oh, stop it, Abdullah! You'll have to stop walking around in slippers and buy yourself some boots if you want to look dangerous." ^ This always crack me up! Just like the RPG buried in the backyard in SW Vanilla. Unique humor makes every game even more interesting! This game has made our great expectations more than not into being just a reality, but will totally immerse you down deep into the story. It shows you more about the deep detail and story of what's happening to Syria through the in-game story. As the devs mentioned about unit pathings and flaws from the previous game, they have totally improved alot. Only thing is that vehicle pathings are somehow awkward, but nonetheless they can still fight effectively. As ATGMs have ridiculously pinpoint accuracy as in the vanilla, they made it close enough to be realistic in RtP. Soundtrack is also great, that made you totally sink down into the game itself...plus the music "Закройте свои рты (Shut up your mouth!)" by Artyom Grishanov made the pace of the game even more intense like you feel the thrill of obliterating Daesh/ISIS jihadists with Russian airstrikes and marine assaults while the legitimate Syrian government saves the country from destruction by Western-funded terrorists and crybaby snowflakes. I give a 40/10 BM-21 rocket pods for raining down hell on safe spaces of so-called SJW snowflakes with truth, and a battalion of Tiger squads for the in-depth gameplay. Overall, it's a must-try stratrgy game.

Oh boy, if you've thought the original game on «Realistic» was already tough enough, then better rev up your stockpiled ATGMs for this one. You'll need them badly. Return to Palmyra is the first of hopefully several expansion packs for Syrian Warfare, one of my favorite releases of 2017. It features 5 unforgiving missions following the footsteps of Suhail-Al-Hassan of the legendary Syrian «Tiger Forces» Division. This time the story takes place in late 2016 when ISIS retook the desert town of Palmyra from the back then careless Syrian Arab Army. During these hectic weeks the Syrian Arab Army and their allies managed to recover their forces at the T4 airbase west of Palmyra and hold it against the surprising attacks of the terrorists. The siege of the airbase was then followed by several fierce battles to retake Palmyra from the hands of Daesh. If you followed the events of the war, you know what awaits you. Apart from Uncle Mansour, the old veteran tanker, which makes a brief appearance during the second mission of the DLC, there are regrettably no other familiar faces - Anwar and his homies are sadly missed. Most of the time you follow the radio chatter of «Tiger-4» who is obviously based on the real-life Suhail-Al-Hassan, but fails a bit to be as a convincing protagonist as Anwar was. Interestingly during many occasions in Return to Palmyra you'll be able to hear intercepted radio conversations of ISIS militants who therefore give away their intentions. But nonetheless you'll have little chance catch your breath during most of the missions. Without constant saving, loading and making good use of your units and the Space Bar pause you have zero chances to win. Some of the missions in this DLC are by far the most hectic ones in the whole Syrian Warfare pack. With this of course comes a lot of Trial-and-Error into gameplay, I think even more than in the main game. Apart from that I was mightily amused by this 7 to 10 hours long campaign. Again expect many crazy encounters with technicals, tanks and ATGMs. This time the enemy upgraded their fleet of vehicles with the addition of Humvees, civilian vans for transporting shock troops or even armored trucks with BMP-1 (!) turrets. But also the Syrian Arab Army stepped up their game with Recoilless Rifle squads, Hezbollah militias and even the legendary Gazelle helicopter which turns out as an invaluable tank killer. The Good: + The same fever from the main game + 7 to 10 hours worth of gameplay + New vehicles and units + Same tactical depth + Still decent graphics and map design + Improved Arabic voice actors + Some new and good additions to the OST + Pathfinding was slightly improved (but still has some issues sometimes) The Bad: - As rewarding those missions are, they can often be pretty frustrating - Two of the five missions rather feel a bit hastily designed - Again, only one campaign (SAA) and no skirmish or multiplayer - Less political incorrectness than in the main game ;) In conclusion I recommend anyone to get this DLC who already fell in love with the main game, but don't expect a campaign as good as Anwar's one in the original Syrian Warfare. It's a solid and tough experience with some nice additions to the gameplay and some really great moments, but it definitely wasn't as spectacular as the original. Nonetheless I'm looking forward to the next DLC release with hopefully many more to come. Games like this that follow the footsteps of classics such as Sudden Strike are way too rare nowadays. 7.5 out of 10 ATGMs

I am writing this review after finishing the first mission, so it will be updated after i finish the game. Why am i writing the review just after finishing the 1st mission? Because it felt like a finished the fucking game already. It took me 4 hours of constant battle and stress to finish it. The amount of epic moments i had in the first mission alone where a couple of my squads hidden between building defending the last point fighting off an army on their own waiting for my reinforcement to come and save was worthy of a movie by itself. When i finished I was like "FUCKING FINALLY!". Then i got reminded that this was just the first mission when i saw the briefing of the next mission "Oh shit here we go again" i thought. Just Epic. The Return to Palmyra DLC is a direct sequel of the events that have happened in the original Syrian Warfare. While the main Syrian forces were busy in retaking Aleppo, ISIS took the opportunity to organize a huge assault on Palmyra city. You are the commander of an Elite Squad called "Tigers" who will play a key role in supporting the Syrian army and the Russian army in defending the city. People used to say that the original Syrian Warfare was difficult, well, let me tell you that the DLC is a lot more challenging, and that is not in the unfair way, but in a good way. The original game got some criticism in its "trial and error" type of gameplay because enemies don't move out of their positions. In the DLC, this doesn't work anymore. The AI has been improved a lot, the dynamic AI constantly changes the position of its troops and try to outflank your defenses in order to retake the points you captured. In the original game, people also criticized the unlimited spawn rates of troops in some missions. In the DLC the enemy has a limited supply of troops, so no more endless assaults of the same units attacking the same point. The DLC not only offers various drastic improvements to the game design, sound and the dynamic AI, it also offers new contents such as "new squad types, new vehicles, new tank variations, new enemies, new types of VBIED (a fucking VBIED tank oO, and many other new goodies) It seriously it feels like a genuine sequel than a DLC in my opinion. I am very satisfied with the DLC overall, the devs did an amazing job with it. Many bold choices that i wasn't expecting in a DLC (change in the optional mission design, making the player mainly playing a "support role" rather than commanding the whole army, etc..) This DLC is totally worth its price. Can't wait to see more!
