on my 3rd play through and it is still really fun. very smooth and once you get the timing down you can dodge stuff on apocalyptic and reckoning Armageddon + difficulties. farming the 1,000,000 souls is taking a while as well as reaching level 100 however they are doable. story is cool and a nice addition to the darksiders franchise. they left it open ended and prepped for a kickass sequel, hopefully they make it and i will throw cash at it. i just hope it isnt like Genesis and more like darksiders 2. 2 is my favorite and the one here on steam is so buggy you cant play it. hopefully they make darksiders 4 and it isnt a piece of shit.

Absolute trash outdated nonsense. Awful parry mechanics, it waits for you to finish an attack before you can dodge (why? am I not in control of the character?) Art style is non existent in this one, completed the other 2 just fine.

Does not start on linux. With proton (9+) it starts but the resolution is a mess, no matter what it is set on. With proton 4.11 it finally starts in the correct resolution, but there is no audio.

This game marks a big shift in the series. Whereas platforming was the main focus of the first two entries, in Darksiders 3 the focus is shifted to combat. While there is very obviously a lot of "inspiration" taken from the dark souls series, I do appreciate not having to deal with so much platforming.
Platforming in Darksiders always felt like you were glued to the wall, which did not make for fun gameplay whatsoever in my opinion. Given this, in addition to improvements to the gear system and a relatively good stories I personally think Darksiders 3 is the best game in the series so far. I hope that Darksiders 4, which was announced recently, will mostly build on this game, and not the first two.

This game is very enjoyable. When you get the combat and the combos down, it is very rewarding. But you must keep in mind, that this game is actually difficult.
This is a game if you like souls-like and dodging abilities. There is no parry mechanic.
You can't really tank a whole lot of damage as you would die really quickly. You actually need to learn moves of some bosses. If you played souls games before, it is similar to that. Only difference is, that the armour can't really carry you much. You actually have to dodge. But in my opinion, the dodge windows are very generous compared to other games.
What I don't like are some of the puzzles. If you played remnant 1 or 2, the puzzles are similarly annoying.
I just don't enjoy that. But as the combat is really cool, I can look over that.
PC Performance: The game itself is locked to 60 FPS like Elden Ring or other souls games. I had 1 crash in 8 hours playtime which is fine for me.
Recommendation for anyone who wants a challenge and fun combat. Systems are not complex at all and very understandble.
But if you can't handle learning moves or you get angry a lot when you fail, then I would not recommend the game.

100% Achievement Review: A quick review based on my experience completing all the (available) achievements.
Title: Darksiders III
Summary: Hack n slash adventure game
Personal notes: The third in the Darksiders series, this time you play as Fury, the third horseman who is tasked with trying to hunt down the seven deadly sins. I quite enjoyed my experience with this game and think it is a solid addition to the Darksiders series. The world is beautiful as always and the story is pretty good. Graphics and combat* feel great and I think the Hollow mechanic was a really cool feature. One thing to keep in mind was that this was my first time playing this game compared to replaying the first two (Xbox and Pc). With this in mind, and I will try my best to not let nostalgia play a factor, I preferred the first two. Don't get me wrong I think this is a great game but It didn't grab me like the first two games did. Quite a few things were different, some good like the hollow mechanic I mentioned but some were bad. Like why do the first games have a map but this one doesn't? Not to mention the combat(*) when the game launched was all dark-souls esque before they released an updated mode that was more reminiscent of the original series. They also got rid of the Horse! I completely understand wanting to innovate, I just feel like they were trying to do too much and strayed a bit too far from the series roots that I personally loved growing up. Achievement wise this game is pretty similar to the other two. The hardest ones for me personally I listed below. They are mainly just grindy with the most challenging one being beat the game on Apocalyptic. All in all I think it is a really good game and I still enjoyed my time with it, It just fell a little short of my heightened expectations building off the previous games. If you have played the first two and enjoyed them I would recommend this one as well.

It's such a shame E3 is now defunct. Where else could we hope to contemplate upon a cross-section of the whole vidja game industry and marvel at the latest trendy stuff? Oh wait, we still have Darksiders.
If two previous series' installments have taught us anything, it's that whatever the current gamer generation hypes, it will inevitably be pulled into the conflict between Heaven and Hell. For better or (sometimes) worse. Darksiders III makes no exception, taking much of the *ahem* inspiration from soulslike and metroidvania titles.
TBH, it's not a bad effort, either. There are areas in which Darksiders the third actually shines, the most prominent one being the multi-layered and cleverly interconnected map structure. I'm dead serious here, the MAP IS VERY GOOD. What still keeps the gaming crowd from recognizing the architect's talent, is an apparent lack of budget. You know how hard it can be to appreciate the layout of, say, Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, when it is constructed from the same-y spider egg textures with the same-y train car model pasted in strategically in a desperate attempt to add some variety.
Does the game succeed in other parts? The answer depends heavily on your perspective. What's noticeable:
— every section of the game should've been cut by at least 1/3;
— the story is okay and doesn't take itself too seriously (until the very end);
— the cutscenes and acting are okay for the most part, and sometimes even fun;
— traversal and combat stuff work fine more often than not, but there are GLARING ISSUES with at least one core mechanic that haven't been fixed in five years (un-latching whip, I'm looking at you);
— the levelling/upgrade progression is uninspired but solid;
…and as far as I'm concerned, this makes for a 100% certified Darksiders game that I rather enjoyed for, say, 20 hours out of 26 total.

I like this game, but it was different from the previous 2. For starters, you don't get to use your horse so your movement around the map will rely heavily on the Serpent Holes (teleportation) and travelling on foot. In terms of getting stronger, each level allows you to make your health, strength (basic attack damage), or arcane (other damage) higher and you are only allowed to pick 1. Your level doesn't rely on progression however which is nice, it's your choice to spend your currency on levels or other things like armour, temp boosts you can activate at specific times, or adamantine to upgrade your weapons (you can also find those temp boost shards and adamantine by exploring.
Fury unlocks 4 different 'hollows' by playing which give her 4 extra different weapons to her standard whip and arcane effects of fire/extra jump, lightning/glide, guardbreak/magnetisation, and slowing/ice/ice walljumps. These are quite fun to play around with even if you will likely focus on upgrading 2 or 3 of the 5 to the max.
While I had a lot of fun playing this and its dlcs and they had decent stories (not counting the crucible as it is just an arena), my only real dissapointment was the final guardian of the void. It was a real challenge for me and after many attempts I was finally ready when it broke and didn't move. I killed it but by that time I was too strong and good at the game that the last 3 bosses only required a single attempt each. I still had some extra temp boost shards and health flasks left over. Maybe that final guardian of the void dlc was too strong for the rest of the game, but it also wouldn't have made too much sense for me to do it any later than after 1 or 2 more boss as you enter the final act fighting the 2nd to last boss.
TLDR; I had a fun time with a good story, but it was different to the previous 2 Darksiders games and I dissapointingly became too strong fighting a dlc boss for the end of the game.

I understand how most people consider DS3 to be the weakest in the series -and I agree-, however it is by no means a bad game. As a Darksiders fan, I can say that the third instalment is a fun experience and people should definitely play it if they like this universe.
•No bugs or performance issues;
•Fury is a charismatic protagonist that you'll grow attached to;
•Gameplay and combat can be a bit lacking, but it's satisfying all the same;
•This game is hard. You will die a lot and that can be frustrating.
