Great game. I would recommend it, but I still gotta give it to contra or streets of rage for doing a better shoot'em up and soundtrack than this game.

This game is perfect, I finished the story mode, and I am ready now for the arcade mode. It is one of this old arcade games that you want to come back for a quick play every time from to time. Apart from the gameplay, the feeling you have with the pixelated city and the music, make this game very atractive these days.

Amazing game, with so much attention to detail. I absolutely loved every bit of effort and care put into development, like bouncing cars - who would be normally bother doing something like this in a retro shoot-em up? Enemy variety and especially the boss variety is amazing, so much content in such a simplistic looking game on the surface. Loved the Nadja Drago boss, being thrown into the goalpost.

Finally, something fun to review. Huntdown is awesome and not for sissies. It’s full of unique boss fights with great personality, sick af backgrounds that gives parallax a new name, loads of secrets, fun to use weapons. You can burn guys to death and looks awesome, it’s got two player, multikills, weapon combos, and dogs that’ll try to rip your face off. It reminds me of when video games were good and men were men. Fitting soundtrack and just looks so damn nice! Totally worth the sticker price and the arcade mode is intense and great add-on. I really liked this one, it’s the best I’ve played in months. Thank you sir!

I enjoyed my time with Huntdown. I think the pros more than make up for the cons, and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves side scrolling arcade games! Pros: +Absolutely fantastic pixel art. The amount of style shown everywhere and how many art assets they made for this game cannot be understated. The music is also very fitting, but not as catchy or memorable. Presentation overall is A+. +Weapons feel good to use, tight controls means you'll never have a problem that wasn't your own fault. +Strong enemy and boss variety with the factions and methodical boss design. If you like pattern recognition like Mega Man / Contra, you'll love these guys. + The creative vision on this game was executed perfectly. It's a rare sight when I can tell the designers did not compromise even a single time. Cons: - It is not a fast game for how much action there is. Pretty slow and methodical pace over the entire game. Not really my preference when it comes to these types. - The levels play out the exact same, not many new mechanics to engage with to make them interesting. The only thing that kept me going through them was to get to the excellent boss fights. I'd give Huntdown a 7.5/10, you really can't go wrong picking this up, even if some of the design elements felt lacking when I put thought into them. The experience of playing and watching the game as it went on was delightful.
