used to be cowboys and revolvers and magic and zombies. now it's just becoming a call of duty clone

Was something really unique. Has been reduced to a parody of its former self in an attempt to try to steal Fortnite's audience(?). Was good, is now bad. Sad.

Hunt: Showdown - A Love-Hate Relationship With over 4,000 hours on record, I can confidently say that Hunt: Showdown is one of the most unique and immersive FPS experiences out there. The blend of PvE and PvP, the eerie atmosphere, and the tactical gunplay make it stand out in the crowded shooter market. However, despite my extensive playtime, I do not recommend this game—and here’s why. Ping Abusing Fest Playing on EU servers, I expect to encounter a majority of European players. Instead, I find myself constantly running into Russian and Chinese players, turning matches into a frustrating ping-abusing nightmare. Shots that should connect don’t register, hit markers are inconsistent, and overall gameplay quality suffers. This is an issue that has plagued the game for a long time, yet nothing has been done to fix it. Region Lock? Not a Chance Any major company looking out for its player base would implement region locking to maintain fair matchmaking. Crytek, however, has made it clear that restricting potential customers is not an option for them. Instead, they allow a free-for-all experience where high-ping players dominate, making fair fights almost impossible. Cheaters? More Than Ever Cheating has always been an issue in online games, but in Hunt: Showdown, it's worse than ever. ESP, aimbots, and wallhacks are becoming increasingly common, and the anti-cheat system seems incapable of keeping up. Reports feel useless, and the number of suspicious deaths per match continues to rise. Final Verdict Hunt: Showdown has an incredible concept and execution, but its refusal to address region issues, ping abuse, and rampant cheating makes it a deeply frustrating experience. For those who haven’t invested thousands of hours yet, my advice is simple: stay away.

Sad to say this game has lost it's charm. Used to be a slower pvp experience where sound and stealth mattered and a well timed push could turn a 1v3 into a win, your buddy going down didn't mean he was out of the fight straight away and you could play it right and get him back up. Now due to the burn speed people just leave the second they get set on fire and I don't honestly blame them when the alternative is wait to see if your buddies can even get you up after just to have only 1 health chunk left and be useless and need to leave the game. The first event after the engine update had very accessible ways to restore health chunks and it felt almost intended with the new system which almost worked but has since been removed and now the burn speed balance seems even more wrong. The game has been altered to cater to "cod" fans, speeding it up and trying to force people into rushing fights when the existing fanbase enjoyed hunts unique identity which is slowly being patched out. Still holding out hope that the devs see the light and fix what they have broken while they can salvage the playerbase.

Only played for a little under 14 hours but so far this is probably the best FPS i've played in a long time. The theme and atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal with top-notch sound design. The Gun-play and Mechanics are self explanatory without much direct guidance, the early stages of learning are super fun and experimenting during shootouts is so rewarding when it works out. Crafting your own builds and making tough decisions mid-run is suuuuper exhilarating that has my heart pumping. So far early game its a easy 8/10 fun and rewarding experience, will be playing more and looking forward whats to come after the goofy postmalone battlepass is over.

It's not what it used to be. Rarely any night maps, no more planning, sound doesn't matter anymore, and the atmosphere no longer feels dark and gloomy. This game just keeps steering further from the original idea and it makes me sad.

Game used to be solid. Went the route of COD's horizontal menus and suppressed weapon meta. When your game opens up to literal ads about the game itself, there's an issue.

I have played this game for over 3,000 hours, its a steep learning curve at the start. Sometimes hunt giveth some days she taketh. I play for fun not to sit in a bush for 20 minutes lioke some players in the six star lobbies. Its a good game and fun for the most part, I would recommend it to most fans of shooters. See you in the bayou!

Let's face it, the community for Hunt does actually love the game. We're all passionate about this game, and that makes us vocal when things go in a direction that drastically changes the way the game has historically been played. I want updates to the game, this isn't a rant about wanting the "old days" back. This is a rant about how Crytek seems to actively want to push their older, loyal fanbase away for no other reason than to try to turn Hunt into a wild west version of COD to attract the teenager, zoomer, crowd. There have been lots of ups and downs for this game over the years, and to be honest, if not for the last few updates, I'd say its been a relatively positive experience. Between the revive bolts, circus, beetles, event traits that give you your health bars back, solo res nerf, and complete revision of the GUI (completely terrible change), I can't recommend this game. This used to be a slower, more methodical shooter. Now it's either a camp fest or complete shit show with teams reviving each other 50 times. There's almost no downside to getting killed when you're in a team. You can get res'd immediately with a revive bolt from across the compound and either have not lost a health bar at all due to traits, can use a stim to get your health bar back, or make a quick trip to the circus to get it back. This drastically changes the way the game is played for teams as it's less punishing for a player making a mistake and drags fights out so long that it becomes a tedious camp fest.

They completely ruined a good game. New menu UI is so complicated and confusing now. Graphic bugs and optimization have never been worse. This is not the case only with me, but also with my friends. We wanted to play hunt again after new updates and we were very disappointed. I also miss old music.
