It does a great job of mixing modern top down action with the beloved GTA athstetic. I got it for 3$CND and it was completely worth the purchase. The 'levels' where you assault building interiors are well designed and enjoyable to fight through, the shooting mechanic feels great and is much tighter than the original GTA, london missions or GTA 2. On the down side the driving/car systems feel a bit stripped down, including the cops and the city itself. While the game has side missions and a city to drive around in with a few things to find overall the game feels more linear than it's inspiration and the map is lacking unique set peices and details (no jumpable bridges, trains, car vendors on the docks ect.) It's not really fair to compare this to a game as influectial as GTA but they kind of force us to and sadly in every way but the gunplay it's missing so many of the tiny nuances & details that made GTA a classic so keep that in mind if you are fans of the original games scope, you won't find the same living city or sandbox options in this game. Also some level of zoom control would really be helpful, as it is you can only see a few cars lengths in any direction (your speed does effect zoom a bit) but theres no way to avoid incoming obstacles or time to plan your path during driving segments. It also becomes frustrating in combat when you can't zoom out to check your suroundings or make use of the sniper rifles range. Overall though it's a really fun and well made game, most of my nitpicks are irrelevant for anyone who didn't play GTA 1. If you are a modern GTA fan looking to get a small taste of the originals gameplay without dealing with the dated controls and graphics I think this is a great option. ***Strangely there is no option to use the 'tank' style controls found in the games this inspired. I'm sure we all prefer the improved functionality of mouse and directional WASD movement but as someone who played a lot of the original games (and baught this game partially for nostalgias sake) it was a little offputting to not have any option to play it with the original controls at least for movement.***

It looked like a lot of fun, but ended up being a very clunky controlled GTA clone. It looks better on the eyes compared to Hotline Miami, but controls nowhere near. I used a gamepad, and tinkered with the mapping using Controller Companion. The fighting & gunplay was just way too clunky. It is very much a very inferior clone of GTA 1. I had no fun with this. However, if they improved the controls and targetting when fighting, it could have potential.

Pros : - good game, its like GTA 2 but more wonderful. - test your brain in mission who make you think clear mission without get shot. - Great Story. - Interactive Hud Cons : Still have many bugs. Its more like early access to me,

Lost my patience with this one eventually. It was a present from a friend, so I decided to really give it a go....It's awful. Clunky, slow and it takes ages to do anything like turn and move. The cars are a chore to drive, especially in that mission that gives you 42 seconds to drive somewhere....It's NOT enough time, seriously I managed to GET ON THE MARKER a few times but no, unlike in the past where it booted me to the mission, it arbitrarily expects me to GET OUT of the car now? Honestly the driving segments are trash....take those away you are left with a Loaded/Hotline Miami knock off...not worth it at all, if not for the money but for the goddamn time you spend. It is nowhere NEAR on par with the games it tries to be like, GTA, Hotline Miami, Loaded, Take No Prisoners and so on. (And even those games could be a bit crap.)

the companion ai doesn't always shoot when there's an enemy next to him so you get killed, the race timing is too tight, your car get stopped by the smallest object possible and you don't even notice if you have a fast car or not.

I don't know what it was, but this game looked exciting from the trailer. But when I played it my excitement soon faded, the controls are terrible, changing the controls to 'alternative' made it a little better to handle the guy, but driving is still pants! I'm glad it cost less than pound, if I bought it at say £5 or above I feel even worst. I can't understand why my guy is so slow walking or driving. I might be doing something wrong how would I know. I'll keep it maybe someone might pick it up and do something with it one day so its a keep in the library. Shame so potential..

I know the publisher is known for terrible, awful products, but I figured this could be worth the dollar it cost me. I was wrong. Absolutely atrocious. "Inspired" by classic top-down GTA and Hotline Miami but without any of the elements that make those games good. Gameplay is terrible, writing and presentation is awful, confuses "difficulty" for "challenge," has no production value, and overall feels like the kind of game you'd play in a web browser on a Flash games site. Even for 99 cents, I requested a refund. If you enjoyed classic GTA, load up 1, 2, or the Londons and relive those glory days. If you like Hotline Miami, replay either (or both) of them. If you're just looking for a fun top-down action game, look elsewhere. Might I recommend Splatter: Blood Red Edition, which is sort of like Max Payne x Crimsonland, the good, original Crimsonland, not the ham-fisted remake.

This tries to be a modern mix of GTA 1/2 (top down view, stealing cars to free roam from mission to mission) and Hotline Miami (indoor and melee fights). A mix I really craved for since GTA 2... but somehow this leaves me completely unimpressed. Driving is awkward, everything is kinda empty and lifeless. Every mechanic somehow feels half implemented and the cut scene artstyle is just plain ugly. Meh/10 and I instead recommend picking up Hotline Miami and GTA 2 separately. Both do everything better this game tries to achieve and cost you less. --> You can find GTA 1 and GTA 2 available under "gtamp com" as modded freeware (bugs fixed + win10 compatibility).

I had high hopes for Riskers. I wished for the impossible, and I knew there wouldn't be much chance that my expectations would be filled. I had hoped for an update to the original masterpiece, but I would have settled for less. Just kept thinking, "oh, this is really bad..." Riskers took an ambitious target, and I applaud their ambition. Unfortunately, this is one for the archive, when they get famous with their own ideas, they can look back at this one and laugh. Sadly, those who pay ten dollars for this game are not laughing, today. Riskers misses what made the original so terrific (pay phones, harikrishas, money, police stars, interesting sidequests, and an open world), while making sure all the painfully slow parts stayed here (terrible driving speeds, instakills, map problems), and added parts that didn't fit any where else (HLM sans weapons, street racing with a sad a.i., graphical glitches with UI, no video resolution settings, and dreadful speech bubbles that cannot be manually advanced). Fans of the original are going to be disappointed, and people who have never played the original will have the biggest WTF moment of their lives. Only 10% of owners got the achievement for getting a car to the highest speed. Riskers redeems itself by having a great soundtrack, with the music files in the local directories. Dozens of killer tracks for you to hear. Comic art is nice too, but a bit out of place. Tried my best to play on an ubuntu desktop. Game requires a fast desktop, and it uses the Unity game engine. It takes 500MBs of diskspace, and it provides the music as local OGG files.

GTA2 style shooter/racing game. City is atmospheric, the lighting and music really set the mood. Game is fairly linear, Mafia 1 style, but there are challenges on the map that you can find/do. Story is told through Max Payne 1,2 style comic strips, you follow the story of garbage man who finds suitcase full of money and get's into bloody conflict with it's owners. Combat is quite punishing but interesting, both you and enemies can't take more than 2 hits so it's pretty kill or be killed explosive encounters. But the checkpoints aren't far so it does not get boring. Progression wise it has cool old GTA vibe, shooting/racing/chase someone/escape someone. Pacing is quite balanced. I have played with latest hotfix to date (22, Oct) and have not run into any crashes or bugs. I'd say it's a very good value for the money.
