Wars Across the World: Congo 1964 DLC

[h1]Simulates a rebellion against Mobutu and his mercenaries[/h1] This is basically a board game with unit cards with hit points that you move around a map of Congo in 1964 trying either to overthrow the CIA-installed Mobutu regime or trying to prop it up with a team of Congolese Quislings and foreign mercenaries. [h1]Epic fail with regards to history of the conflict depicted.[/h1] This game is surprisingly propagandistic to the extent that it literally starts out by saying that the rebels "want to terrorize expatriates and civilians." I'm not kidding. Taking CHILDREN as hostages and EXECUTING them afterwards is a gameplay mechanic for the rebels in this DLC which seems to have been written by a butthurt Mobutu simp. This game doesn't make any mention of the incredible brutality of the Belgians, who had one of the most brutal colonial regimes in history, nor of the brutality of the Mobutu regime which ousted the elected government of the Congo but is DOES give you the opportunity to take hostages and massacre civilians if you play as the rebels. For a historical game to be so one-sided and leave out so much history is unforgivable. I can't recommend a historical DLC that fails at history. As my history professors would have told me if I had written something so one-sided and deficient in context, do a better job next time. P.S. If you are wondering, why yes I DO have a degree in history and I think it's sad to see a ten minute youtube video do a much better job of portraying the complexities of the war in Congo than this one-sided, polemic from people who make DLCs with the NAZIS that don't have anything bad to say about the same but can't help but denounce rebellion against the glorious leadership of Mobutu and his foreign sponsors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCx2Lze1_bE
