Long ago, a war raged between two powerful deities. Each was sealed away, their weapons scattered throughout the world. Our hero in this RPG, Fang, happens upon one such weapon and now he alone must choose which deity will awaken again!

I think alot of people that left positive reviews are blinded by nostalgia.
For the price (on sale) I think the game is worth it but the game contains some of the most frustrating elements that plagues many JRPGs and takes it to the most extreme version. For example there is a experience system called WP's that you use to boost your weapons and you can only obtain them from fighting an enemy. One of the first upgrades you could aim for is COMBO upgrade which costs 300WP. In the beginning of the game you gain about one WP per kill so every fight you get 2-4WP. Normally this is fine in other RPG's because the amount of WP would scale to fit the difficulty. But in this game I am currently around Lv20 and every enemy still only gives 1WP per kill.
What exacerbates this point more-so is that, without skipping, fights take forever. Even a simple mob fight takes about 5-10 min simply due to the cut-scenes. You could skip the cut-scenes but you have to skip each one manually, so there is no setting to skip all battle cut-scenes. Even if you did skip the cut-scenes your fight at the fastest would take ~2 min due to positioning. Meaning if you wanted to get one of the earliest upgrades [Combo] you would need to farm 75 fights which could take anywhere from 2.5 hours to 9.5 hours and that upgrade doesn't even feel that powerful.
I feel that the game is overall good especially for the sales price but the egregious grind fest that is required is some next level absurdity that I could never recommend to anyone.
