Not a crazy in depth review, but the store page does not clearly say there is no actual partying system (you join friends with a code into a lobby) and there is no voice chat available. This would be fine because I use discord, but playing through cross play with friends means no voice chat at all.
Overall, the game is gorgeous and runs extremely well. Movement feels heavy, but you don’t notice after awhile. I did not try the co op story because of lack of voice chat so I don’t have anything to say about that.
Just wanted to give a warning about features not in the game. The lack of partying and VC should be stated in a game with a focus on coop. Otherwise, I would have loved this game.

1.7 hrs in and I am already having a blast. I'm sure single player will get boring after a while but for now I am going to enjoy it for as long as I can.

game constantly fails to connect to internet. keeps getting switched to LAN in the settings no matter how many times i shut it off. when I can get connected to online matches, ill randomly get dropped and get the "Failed to start online session. Please check you internet connection" message and have gotten this for months. hopefully they'll fix it but until then, i wouldn't recommend.

i think the game is PHENOMENAL, it's insanly nostalgic and brings me back to being a child playing around the house with the soldiers, or watching "toy soldiers" or "small soldiers". unsure how to describe it but it makes me think of my grandpa and i thank you for that. please keep this passion project alive.

For $44 you get the complete game, and the joy of playing with your three sons to live out your Toy Story: Apocalypse fantasies on the same screen.
My only gripe is that there’s no explosives/specials for when you’re in the shit, and you can’t mix/match body parts from toys to create a custom toy, just pick a base theme and color—sure you can customize the head, but I was hoping to have arms/head/body/legs interchangeable like my off-brand copyright-infringing Dragonball figurines from the mall kiosk at Potomac Mills.
Hype - 4/5
