Wow! Having played both Martha Is Dead and Town of Light, I can say that LKA Games knows how to craft a disturbing ending!
It's a slow-burning horror, focusing on building a creepy atmosphere instead of relying on cheap jump scares, and that's fine, but you should know what to expect. Sometimes it's a bit too slow, and the walking speed in particular could do with being faster.
Visually, the game looks amazing, but this comes at the cost of some serious performance problems. I couldn't maintain a stable 60 fps regardless of the graphics quality level.

Yeah... not the horror I was hoping for
I saw a post asking for good horror games and someone in the comments recommended Martha Is Dead.
This isn’t really horror it is more of a psychological thriller with some super disturbing moments and slow, dark psychological storytelling.
I was expecting scares, not something that would make me question my sanity.
But its actually really well made game

Martha Is Dead is a highly immersive and unsettling psychological horror game that dives deep into trauma, loss, and blurred identity. Set in 1944 Italy, the game masterfully blends folklore, war, and psychological unraveling to deliver a gripping narrative experience.
The atmosphere is haunting, the visuals are beautifully eerie, and the storytelling is bold, sometimes brutally so. The developers do not shy away from disturbing imagery and intense themes. Because of this, reviewing the trigger warnings is essential before playing. The game deals with graphic depictions of self-harm, abuse, death, and mental illness, which may not be suitable for all players.
For those who are intrigued by the story but concerned about some of the more distressing scenes, there is an alternate ending available that softens the emotional impact while still delivering a compelling conclusion.
Overall, Martha Is Dead is a standout for horror fans who appreciate deep narrative complexity and are prepared for its dark subject matter. Proceed with awareness, and you’ll find a chilling and unforgettable experience.

Game almost never goes beyond 17 fps, so cant even progress through the narrative. Not surprising I guess seeing their other game, Town of Light cant even be launched anymore, as in it always crashes when you try to launch it. They are really making half baked indie games with ok graphics at this rate I guess.... Highly disappointed.

I really enjoyed Martha Is Dead. It’s eerie, haunting, and incredibly memorable, it left me in disbelief more than once. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the story goes to some truly dark and unexpected places. I absolutely loved how bold and unsettling it was. The photography mechanic was a standout for me, and the way the narrative unfolds kept me fully engaged the entire time. It’s not your typical horror game, it’s slower, more psychological, but that’s exactly what makes it so powerful. Honestly, one of the best games I’ve played in this genre. If you enjoy dark, story-driven experiences that aren’t afraid to get uncomfortable, this is a must-play.

What starts as something that is quite interesting story-wise, falls short because of many errors, dragged out sequences, unnecessarily long interactions and overall how slow this game is. Sure, there were a few moments where I was like, that's cool, I want to see what happens next - but then you have to endure these draaagged out sequences that just makes you lose interest faster than PirateSoftware loses subscribers.
First time I launched the game it was pretty bug free, but I had to reboot my computer when exiting cause it froze it. Okay, second time, I used alt+f4 to close it, but steam thought it was still running until I manually had to interrupt the process. Third time, to try and finish off the tediously slow ending, I couldn't even boot up the game anymore, tried three times and I had to hard reboot my computer all of those times. So I guess I can't finish the game.
There's something beautiful woven in this game but there's so much wasted potential by not fixing mentioned issues, poor pacing and extremely slow interactions and at times storytelling.
Some animations and environment art were high quality though. Good job to the art team.

I really liked this game, but there are some issues that make it hard to play properly — the movement around the map is clunky, and using the bike is inconvenient. Sometimes there are bugs with the map itself…
The story is interesting, you really get immersed in the madness.
The graphics are decent too.
Overall, very good.
