Hello, and welcome all Chuds, Gamers, and other Nerds. I aim to 100% all the games that catch my eye and join the sea of reviews on this platform.
Most will never read this, but I will review the games I find simply and thoroughly.
(Note for any who care, this is a copy paste of my review of the remaster of this game, no major differences exist between the two versions besides minor visual upgrades.)
1 What is Darksiders?
This franchise is a mix of different religions and ideas merged into a "what if" biblical end times scenario. You follow War, one of the four horsemen wrongfully blamed for the end times. Your motivation is simple. Prove your innocence and kill demons with simple hack and slash game play.
2 What does this game play like?
This game is what if God of War and Zelda had a baby. This game is by far the best in the franchise. It is both short, and to the point. Go to dungeon 1, solve the puzzles, kill the boss, repeat. The puzzles are simple and don't drag on, and the combat shares a very simple nature. Devil may Cry, this game is not, but simple does not mean not fun. Sometimes simple can be charming, and in this case it is.
Simple rankings
Story 7/10: Simple and interesting. The story can justify your motivation to play, but the story will not change your views or make you think real hard about "society" or whatever.
Game play 8/10: Also simple and interesting. The game play can only be described as simple, satisfying, hack and slash combat. It helps that this game is short and does not overstay it's welcome.
Overall 8/10: Simple is what this game gets right. The story is good, genuinely good, but it knows not to overstay it's welcome. The game play is much the same, simple, satisfying, and well used in this relatively short game. This game is a short journey, but a worthwhile one if you like one of it's inspirations of Zelda or God of War.
