Janky combat but fun once you master the timing of everything.
Edit: I take back what I said, fourth dungeon is the worse area someone could've ever designed. Spiders have a LOT more range than any other ennemy, everything is a corridor, most ennemies shoot front facing projectiles, objects have no collision etc..
The artificial difficulty increase wasnt that bad from 1-2 and 2-3 but the end is just unbearable to play through

It's aight. Yeah, the animations are janky, but in terms of gameplay they're not only serviceable, they actually add an extra element to the gameplay. Do you want the hammer that does a butt-load of damage, or the sword with the better move set? Dark Souls has stiff animations and everyone seems to think it's amazing there.
The one thing I will complain about is the repetition in the quests. You have a hub with only a few maps. While the idea of returning to the same map and progressing a little farther is unique as well as fun, in reality you end up in the same parts of the maps 90% of the time. And the maps just end up being too big. Have fun walking though the lower floor of the sewers like 10 times in a row. If it was short, unique dungeons and the animations were a bit smoother, I think you'd have a real winner here.
There's a story, but it's pretty barebones. Yeah, the dev probably is ESL, but I don't think even in their native tounge this is a priority here.
