I have waited since 2016 when this game was first shown to play it. I had a PS4 at the time and no way of playing it. Flash all the way to 2025 and I have a PC capable of playing it. While it has optimization issues (I am on a 2080 super and ryzen 7600) at 1440p I would get some wildly changing fps from liek 120 to 45 all in the same area. The game lived up to the hype for me 9 years later and this game has made me want to play the entire remedy catalog. Can not wait to play Control one day. 10/10 game has its issues but this is what I like in a game good story, good characters fun combat. It is all here.

Very unique concepts and ideas. Unfortunately the gameplay is lacking in multiple aspects. The 2 most annoying aspects for me were the auto adjusting over the shoulder camera and the auto crouching when in combat. The story also has inconsistencies and the plot armor is insane in the mini-series (the pseudo john wick is the one i am referring to). Not the quality i am expecting from Remedy but I saw that another well known company was also involved in the production of this game so i'll just blame the bad parts on them. Liked the ideas but the game is not worth it in my opinion, glad that i could give remedy some more money for their future project tough :)

The most Remedy of Remedy games, I both liked it more and less than Control, I finished it in couple of days and enjoyed it, suprisingly ran worse than Control. with lots worse frame rates. The bosses were generally worse along with the level design. The combination of tv series is strange. I did like the look the most of the combat which had some FEAR touches. Did not like Remedy manadatory platforming and gimmick skills tests. Up to Act 3 really enjoyed it Act 3 I hated it and ran like crap on my computer. Act 4 and 5 are mostly better apart from the very cheap final boss where I had to resort to a walkthough and it was stupid and annoying. Liked the Alan Wake and Control easter eggs. Very polished apart from the Microsoft and Nissan co-branding that was very very obvious and made it look very mid market American cable show. Good cast story is so so still waiting for Remedy to be as good as Max Payne 2.

TL;DR: + Story: 9/10. + Graphics (design, models, facial animations, effects): 8.5/10. - Graphics (overall impression): 5/10. - Gameplay: 4/10. - Performance: 3/10. Maybe the pros and cons listed below will help you to make a decision whether or not to give this game a chance. My first 2 playthroughs were on an XBox SX + Sony TV with decent quality of upscaling, so I didn't experience half of the negative aspects of this game back then, maybe that's why I still give it a Recommended. Pros: + Story: 9/10. Although, since it's about time travel, there're a number of dumb things such as characters talking about the fact that it's impossible to change what's already happened; however, for some reason
they think they can stop the Fracture which technically has already happened because P. and B. saw the End of Time, so the activation of the CFR would take place in the past.
. Nevertheless, I'd say it's the best story among all Remedy's games (who would have thought that Sam Lake's Alan Wake 2 would be schizophrenic nonsense) and it easily deserves a movie or a TV show which it kind of gets since between every act there's a ~20-minute "cutscene" with real actors, although a separate movie/show would still be great. It's quite unusual to see real actors and their digitised versions in the same game, and not only that but also, the decorations, costumes, cars. Remedy did a really good job on that. + Graphics (design, models, facial animations, effects): 8.5/10. The game also has unique and memorable visual elements. + Choices you make in the Junction chapters affect: live-action show, the fates of some minors characters, dialogues, documents, small details and a boss fight. The main storyline is linear though. Also, if you
solve the equation in the very beginning
, that will be reflected in the live-action show as well. By the way, IMO
Nick
is a better and funnier companion than
Amy
. I'd definitely recommend replaying the game to see all possible outcomes; you can replay ANY chapter on ANY difficulty which is great. Something to keep in mind: * I know that reading notes is boring and it distracts from the action gameplay pace but some of them are really important to know the characters better and empathise with them, so my advice is: at least pay attention to
Will's
and
Beth's
notes. Cons: - Graphics (overall impression): 5/10. The game is blurry AF and everything is lo-res regardless of the settings. Disabling Upscaling doesn't do much except for reducing FPS from 100-140 to 50-60. - Performance: 3/10. FPS can drop to 30 after almost each cutscene (not always though) and, what's worse, during some gunfights, so prepare for a cinematic 24-fps experience (sometimes it's literally a slideshow). Funnily, Upscaling doesn't affect those severe FPS drops at all. I don't remember having these issues on my Xbox. - Gameplay: 4/10. Sadly, the most important part of every game is somewhere between mediocre and boring. The good thing is that the game is quite short. Cons (non-crucial but noticeable): - Live-action show is online only, so your game is held hostage by Steam. If I'm not mistaken, on Xbox it's possible to download the entire show to your local storage. - But who truly holds the game hostage is Microsoft, so it's highly unlikely that someone will ever address the graphics and performance issues. - The only way to set a 4K resolution is via a .ini file - The 30 FPS lock setting and aim-assist enabled by default are embarrassing and also aren't something you would expect to see in a PC game, unless it's a lazy console port. - White cursor on a white screen was a terrible decision. - Both
Charlie
and
Liam
are p*ssy sl*ves, except
Liam
is more of a "combat p*ssy sl*ve", so you have to deal with this contradiction when you want to empathise with him but every time his
wife
is brought up in a conversation he
loses his mind completely
and you begin to hate him, even
Charlie
looks less pathetic. - Within the first 5 minutes of the game you see Saga Anderson before she became an ugly Swedish rapper - a reminder of how pathetic Remedy has become over the years because almost none of their projects were commercial successes, so they had to beg for alms and do whatever their investors (Microsoft, Epic Games) told them to. You still think this Saga was an Easter egg? Sure, keep coping.

After all it was pretty enjoyable. I should've reviewed it before as I don't remember much about the game nowadays. Only that the bad guy, as usual, was actually right or something.

I think the game is good. It's definitely for more of more for people who like a long... LONG... story driven game. I'm not a fan of playing a game with choices just to have the choice acted out in a live action skit that takes 15 minuets. I don't know how many there are because after the first one I lost interest. It killed my immersion.

This game should have been amazing, however stumbles over multiple issues (gameplay mechanics, story presentation etc.).

Could hare been a great Exclusive for Xbox but they fumbled hard with the story. Which got over people's head. I liked : - The shooting mechanics are serviceable, and the time-manipulation abilities can be fun to experiment with, but the combat quickly becomes repetitive.you get bunch of different abilities like slow motion, speed, energy blast. - visuals are stunning, with impressive character models and well-executed time distortion effects. - Easy to understand controls, smooth controller support. I disliked: - The story was dull, uninteresting, their show felt like an indie show - Cutscenes, and show elements interrupts your gameplay - Repetitive combat, enemy variety is very less - though fps was stable 60 at the beginning, Game starts dropping FPS From 60 to 38 in High settings. It was hard for me to shoot the enemies because of the constant fps drops My personal rating is 6 out of 10

genuinely fascinating bit of remedy's history that i wish had significantly less corporate meddling than what clearly occurred. you can constantly tell that a much more interesting, weird story that would much more explicitly use time travel as a metaphor for grief lurks just beneath the surface of a game that microsoft wanted to be a more broadly appealing superhero origin story, and i wish all those weird and super compelling elements hidden in emails and notes got a bit more explicit screentime, especially in relation to the relationship between jack and will. although, I do find the choice system in this game to be interesting, at least in the context of who we're making choices for. gameplay wise, it's pretty solid, but nothing too crazy or mind-blowing. I had overall a pretty good time with the time powers, but it's clear that control is the more refined experience of this. overall, a decent game that's often overlooked, and an underappreciated part of remedy's catalogue, but it's a genuine shame that they couldn't get More Weird with it.

Why isnt there an I just Like this button? It's great. Scifi, mystery, action. Good story. Mind bending. Why do I need to type all this. I just want the algorithm to know what I like.
