Dull, simple, generic, tower defense game. Feels a bit like a port from a phone game. Overall I didn't enjoy it. We spent 8 hours together which is pretty early for me to give up on a game. Not the absolute worst I ever played.

Ahoy, maties! Prepare for an epic adventure as you track down the evil pirate responsible for raising even more zombie pirates from the dead! in all honesty, he's just looking for his lost love, but alas, he is doing bad things for her. Embark on a journey with Jack O'Callaghan, Esmeralda, Pierre and others as you traverse the Shimmering Seas to seven islands wrought with zombie pirates. With various islands to visit, new boats - friend and foe - to discover, and plenty of zombies to murder, Zombie Pirates is a pretty good way to spend some time. Collecting grog allows you to heal your ships, kegs will explode the enemies and gathering birds allows you to recruit more reinforcements! Don't forget to collect pirate treasure in the forms of coins so you can visit the shop for upgrades. They're worth it! I had a lot of fun playing this game for my YouTube playthrough and my Journey to Complete My Steam Library challenge. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys this style of game, but be warned, there are some stiff difficulty adjustments between worlds. A little Tower Defense game. Graphics and story are simple, is very fast to learn and quite easy to play. To win only requires speed of hand and thinking; ideal for kids. Is different from others because as the weapons are ships, can move them. Two serious tips: by its short duration, only worth with a discount of 75% or more, and If you cant run it, read the forum post.

Fun little casual Tower Defense game with moveable, upgradeable ships and a silly pun-laced story. Not especially ground-breaking or challenging but enjoyable nonetheless. Recommended on sale. - Skinny from the Fat B*stard (curator link)

Total blah, but it all works, so there is that. For starters, not a tower defense game, so for me that was a disappointment. That said, it all seems to actually be a game. It starts out a bit confusing, as the intro seems to imply the zombie is the hero, but them once the game starts he isn't. Not a big deal, but weird. Anyway, you have a ship, and you can buy others to join your fleet as zombie ships attack and try to get past you. Most of the ships shoot things, and there are a few upgrades. As you defeat them, the map opens up and you get to fight more. There is a store, too, so you can upgrade things. But it's all very blah.

Well basically Zombie Pirates is one big mini game where waves and and waves of zombie ships come from right side of the screen to attack you and you have to defend yourself using various items like powder kegs, parrots and other ships. Game is quite fun in small doses (like 10 min ) since it's very repetitive and can get boring really soon.

Pirates AND zombies? What's not to love? Well, the fact that I can't get it to run, for one. I was looking forward to a bit of casual swashbuckling mayhem but the game won't launch, and there has been close to zero forum activity for the game since its release - 10 years ago. One of the few forum posts did mention a possible fix by downloading an un-named something which worked for some and not others, but I just don't feel like going through the effort when there are so many other games to play... So sadly I won't be recommending this one.

If you enjoyed Plants versus Zombies, then you will enjoy Zombie Pirates. The gameplay is very similar, but your plants can sail around the battlefield once they're placed. The next time you see this game for 75% off, pick it up. For less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks, you really can't go wrong.

simplistic mechanics, repetitive and boring after a very short while. it may ramp up latter in the game but give the simplicity of the game itself. it really should present the more interesting things much earlier on.

Even at a buck and a half, this game doesn't work. It should not be compared to Plants vs. Zombies, since that is a much better game. That had strategy. Zombie Pirates is basically killing zombie ships and furiously clicking what they drop before it disappears. A dead ship drops a parrot, which can purchase ships, grop, which heals one ship, or a bomb which can blow up an area and may destroy several ships. It's just too hard. Try moving ships and using strategy in your spare seconds. While you're clicking on loot, you may miss healing a ship and it sinks, very easily. Or you miss picking up everything, and even if you do, you may not get a strong enough fleet. The worst are the birds which come out in flock to sink your ships, yet drop nothing. You run out of bombs, grog, or parrots and there's nothing to do but wait for another long load screen to try again and again. You can purchase upgrades, but they are so expensive, it takes a ton of grinding to earn enough gold, which is a sick attempt to extend the length of the game. It's too hard and frustrating and I quit halfway.
