Discuss travelling to Egypt with Fiancee > Re-ignite interest in Ancient Egypt > Play Predynastic Egypt to immerse myself into Egytpian history > Immediately hooked for a few hours > Check genre > Simplified 4X? > Newfound interest in the genre > Check Library > 4X Gallore??!!
One of those moments where you don't notice what you have in your library until you've learned and picked up an interest in the genre. I have just started playing CIV 5 thanks to this game, but I will definitely come back to it.
The game is simple and linear, but it's a solid entry point to the 4X genre. Baby's first steps kind of beat. An if you want more of the same game, pick up the sequel 'Egypt: Old Kingdom'.

Definitely play this game and its sequel if you want to understand how primitive hunter-gatherer communities, fleeing Sahara's drought to the Nile Valley, grew into the state of pyramid builders. These two games can serve as a supplement to a history textbook.
