Paid 265 USD for this product including the needed software and guides, and it worked for 18 months. Now to use the product I need to either install programs to slow down my Mac or buy a s****y PC. I can also be "allowed to upgrade" for another 90 USD in 4 months. Have directly given feedback to the company that they are running a mafia-like scheme. STAY AWAY FROM FANTASY GROUNDS - USE Roll20 instead

If a semi-planar grue took a steaming, magical dump in an old, worn but somehow still well trapped chest... I rolled some charisma dice and pissed off the Mayor. I rolled some charisma dice and the Mayor's daughter laughed every single time she ever saw me after. I rolled some charisma dice and paid what seemed a very padded price at the merchant. I rolled some charisma dice and failed to talk a foolish village child from diving into the empty town well... for the publicity. I spent several of coins purchasing some +1 meat on a +1 stick from a cart merchant. I fed most of it to a passing semi-planar grue.

This DLC is a Core Rulebook for D&D 5E. This review is not specifically about this particular Core Book, but about how these work in general. Fantasy Grounds comes stock with the 5E SRD and Basic Rules for 5E, so you don't strictly speaking need to buy the core books to play - that said, Wizards of the Coast did a great job when they created the SRD/Basic Rules, leaving exactly enough content out of the free version to make the free version feel fine to play, but also making the paid content vastly superior by comparison. Adding the Core Book DLCs to your collection grants you the ability to utilize the corebook material in place of the free content, which is usually superior with more listed options. After loading the module, you can access the content of the DLC by clicking the Library Button in the lower right corner and scrolling down until you see "Core Rules" where you can then click the title of the DLC Core Book in question and then a reference table appears. From here you can access and drag-and-drop any content from the book into your campaign and at the bottom of the reference list, there will be a "reference manual", which is actually a fantasy-grounds version of the book itself, that you can read page for page (though it isn't nearly as easy to read as a physical book, or even a PDF). This still makes for an incredibly user-friendly and hassle-free supplement that any fantasy grounds DM can take full advantage of, but it isn't a particularly good replacement for the "real thing". If it comes down to buying the physical book or this DLC, I would say buy the book - the free content will carry you far enough - that said, having both is great.

Great for Dungeon Masters who like to roll randomally. This pack contains 100's of tables and the ability to forge magic weapons. Plus don't forget the full Dungeon Master's Guide in reference form. In my opinion 5e really hit it out of the park with their core books in terms of pure content. If you have the ability to get all three books and Fantasy Grounds (a $190 minimum) this is worth it to hit the ground running in your creation of adventures.

The DM Guide is an amazing must have addon for any 5th edition DM. The item forge is just amazing and lets you do so many things that would take important time away from other prep items, or worse, delay the game while the DM messes with items. It includes all the tables from the DM guide that would take eons to put in the game.

TLDR: Worth it but.... this DLC is extremely misleading. While what it does provide is worth having, stating "the entire text and image contents of the Dungeon Master's Guide rulebook in an easy to use reference format" is a complete and utter lie. It does not contain the reference text, let me explain: I bought this along with the players manual for my first upcoming DnD game on Fantasy Grounds. Thinking it would be great if I could reference & read the manual within Fantasy Grounds, I thought it was a no-brainer. While the tables and such it does provide is very useful, a huge amount of the actual dungeon masters guide is missing. As an example page 4 of the reference manual has a nice introduction page with a ton of text that you can read that explains what it is to be a dungeon master. Basically any page that explains concepts is missing. However this module is 1/4th the price of the actual reference manual, so the price is worth what it does provide. I just think they should revise the text to clearly state that it does not provide all the text from the reference manual, which it clearly does not.
