Having defeated the Campaigner, Turok throws the Chronocepter into a waiting volcano to destroy it. Unfortunately the blast awakens an even deadlier force - The Primagen. Total throwback to my childhood. Good port / update / re skin / whatever you wanna call it. Worth the price. Get a guide 'cause the levels are tricky to nav.

In some ways this is worse than Turok 1, but in a few ways it's better.
I like that the story is explained. I like that I can swap between ammo types and not always wasting best ammo first. I like that there are more guns, and I didn't feel like any of them were wasting ammo. I like that enemies aren't constantly spawning in harassing you every second. I like that there are unlockable powers used for traversal to make it feel a bit more metroidvania-like. I loved the dino vehicle section.
The main thing that is awful about the game is the level design. It's just chocked full of so many hallways and teleporters that its impossible to make a mental map. And then every teleporter you unlocked displays in the order unlocked, which can display them out of level order. I had to look up walkthroughs because I got sick of wandering. Turok 1 had better levels and it annoys me that we had a major step back on that front.
Enemies don't constantly teleport in like before, but they constantly respawn if you step through any teleporter or level load. When you get lost it can become especially annoying not because they're deadly, but because of how much of a waste of time it feels to kill them over and over for nothing. The enemies don't deal much damage and were bullet spongey (on normal). the game feels dumbed down for console. Also it's really weird how few dinosaurs are in this one. I thought that was the big gimmick of Turok.
Overall though, I feel like steps were taken in the right direction and I look forward to trying the third.

While not as good as it's predecessor Turok 2 is still a worthwhile grab. A fun shooter with a lot of fun weapons to experiment with.

What can I say, This Remaster of a timeless Classic is wonderful. It plays and feels just like they did back when I was first played it on the N64. Of course now it has been upgraded to the max. I would recommend this game highly if you are a fan of the 1990's FPS.
Pros:
- Great Graphics (Some Models are Dated but Up-Scales Great)
- Ability to save Anytime
- Can choose either Pc/N64 SoundTrack
- Classic Combat
- Easy Controls
Cons
-Random items appear in death Areas (bottom of map/ Hive Level the Most)
- Doesn't Have option to add Mission Markers on map

After playing the first Turok i didnt expected that. It was one of the most fun FPS i played. (even if some levels were to long or confusing)

Didn't have quite as much fun as the first game due to having to backtrack far too much, but it's still very fun nonetheless.

The dismemberment of foes is still just as awesome today (cerebral bore, anyone?), but backtracking for missed objectives and Primagen Keys wasn't fun then and isn't fun now.

Nightdive is a great studio filled with talented people who obviously care about game preservation, and I admire them for what they have done with their releases so far. However, there is just so much wrong with this game on a fundamental level that I don't think it can be saved. The level design is atrocious. Every level feels like a giant, tedious maze to get through. The original Turok game (which Nightdive has also remastered on Steam) is a much better purchase.

Mmmm Eh...
6/10
Only for the hardcore Turok fans.
NightDive did a really solid job with this remaster, but the core game is flawed.
A respectable followup to Turok 1; and in certain aspects I think there's some parts that are superior to the first game. Overall though, I think it's an inferior game in contrast.
This game has just slightly improved graphics, and a more defined art style.
It looks great.
The enemy models are much more developed and are more tonally coherent.
I also really like the segments where you ride on the Triceratops - really fun.
And I think the weapons are much cooler in this game than the first game; especially the bow. When you shoot arrows at something, they stick in and you can retrieve them afterwards.
But they just crammed in way too many guns, and not enough ammo for each one.
I found myself juggling different guns because I would use them briefly, and they would run out of ammo, so I'd move to the next one and the same thing would occur.
I'd rather have fewer guns, and more ammo for each weapon, since many of the weapons are redundant.
I found that the bosses are extremely annoying, because the hit-boxes on them are awkward and react strangely. The mechanics of fighting them are just janky.
However, the designs are cool at least.
In my opinion where the game really fails is in the level designs.
For some reason, many levels are laid out like a labyrinth and are extremely confusing to navigate.
Many of which are so bad that I needed to pull up a tutorial to navigate properly.
So many twists, turns, tunnels, and areas to easily get lost in.
And there's a million items to find in them... secrets, feathers, nuke parts, keys...
Too many!
The maps drag on forever...
6 maps + a final boss battle, but those maps are LONG!
There's some really cool stuff here.
If the game had more fluid and less complex level designs I think it'd be stellar.
Shave down the length of each level, and make them less confusing.
I'd say to just stick with the original game, unless it really left a dinosaur shaped hole in your heart that needs to be filled.

If you were a kid in the 90s you dont need a review. For all you whipper snappers out there who like retro games, this is one for you. So come on, pick up your Tek Bow and Plasma Rifle and play one of the best games of the N64 and one of if not the only Native protagonists in video games.
