This game straight up gave me schizophrenia especially when I started making biblical connections to the game's setting and Abbadon as described in Tobit. Once you realize that Asgore is supposed to represent Asmodeus you truly realize what Toby (((Fox))) was trying to say with this game. Absolute cynocephally propaganda, but the gameplay really sells it ngl.

Over the years, I've given more thought to this game than anything else humanity's yet produced. I don't know if that says more about me or about the game, but it's a world unto itself and difficult to approach analytically. Just know that, for the price of ten dollars you can be swallowed whole and forever changed by this game. I owe the person I've become to it. Do not let anything about the external reputation fool you. UNDERTALE contains multitudes. It is a piece of a soul hung innocently between the roguelikes and the farming sims; it has transfixed millions and will transfix millions more. Be careful.

Undertale is my favorite game of all time. It was the first Game i played in english and was my introduction to indie games as a whole. Toby Fox is my favorite Dev ever, in my opinion, Undertale is as close to perfect as you can get. sure the controles are a bit stiff on pc and some may call the graphic "Outdated" but i must disagree. The Graphic is part of the charm. and if its not for the Graphic its for the music. Its one of the best soundtracks ever and holds up really good even as just a vinyl. Its has just so much chamre and character. everything is so memoryable. (if thats the right word.)
It spawned so many fangames, fancomics and a whole community who is just as crazy as the game. I can replay this game till forever and listen to the soundtrack on repeat. it holds a truly special place in my hearth and i changed my view and approach on life as a whole. Also its just 10 bucks and not all that long with a lot of endings and secrets.
1000/10

Summary of Thoughts: Filled with DETERMINATION/10
Undertale has been one of the most impactful experiences I have had with a video game. It's full of lovable characters, genuinely entertaining comedic moments, interesting puzzles, and truly exceptional music. It is not without some minor issues but, honestly, they pale in comparison to this game’s otherwise great qualities. If you are at all interested in this game PLEASE play it as blind as possible, and if you need further convincing then see below:
Characters:
Undertale has a cast of characters that are very easy to fall in love with due to their unique personalities and exchanges/dialogue that feel very genuine. The monsters in the main cast almost all have some kind of satisfying character arc. These characters are sort of the foundation of the experience Undertale is looking to provide, and while this is not necessarily a point of criticism if you cannot enjoy or appreciate these characters and their goofy antics (or at times extremely serious situations) then I fear this game will fall flat for you. Fortunately, you can tell pretty early on if you can enjoy the tone of this game. Personally, there was not a single developed character in this game that I disliked, I even enjoyed the colorful personalities presented by the more standard encounter monsters.
Story:
This game has a plot that on its own can seem quite simple but the characters featured in this story add so much nuance and intrigue. Without giving too much away unfamiliar players are in for many surprises along the way as to the nature of this story and how different characters are a part of it. It is truly an experience that has left me completely satisfied after the credits rolled
for the final time
. I can’t wait until I forget most of the plot so that I can come back a re-experience it.
Themes:
The primary reason this game has left such a large impact on me is due to the themes it presents the player with. This game has messages about
nostalgia, (video game) violence, kindness, and hope
that hit home like few other games for me. While I understand that this story provides the kind of thematic messaging that I love, I can also understand if some players find it to be cheesy or a bit campy. My perspective is that this sense of campiness is, in large part, what creates Undertale’s charming nature. This game is not exactly subtle but that is perfectly okay, it wants you to understand completely what it is saying and for you to internalize those ideas.
Gameplay:
Undertale is an RPG at heart but it features elements of different genres like puzzle games and (to a milder extent) bullet hell games. During certain routes, the game can feel like more of a visual novel (in the best way). The dodging-based gameplay the player uses to get through battles is very unique but simple enough that as it is developed throughout the game it never becomes overwhelming. Even the most difficult encounters still feel fair, and it is always satisfying to finally get past an enemy that was giving you trouble. My biggest point of criticism is that the controls feel a tad weird and there is no in-game option to remap them. I ended up playing on an Xbox controller so I mostly avoided this issue. Overall, for this game's general time to completion, the gameplay remains fresh and interesting. Every new monster encounter feels unique and the solutions for them act in a way that feels like a new puzzle to solve.
Music: Some of the best!
Undertale’s music is exceptional. From boss themes to ambient music it feels like Toby Fox was on a completely different wavelength when composing the OST. The music does really well at creating impactful moments, setting the stage for epic boss battles, and creating an appropriate tone for the moment. I regularly find myself coming back to these tracks outside of the game and will probably do so for a long time.

After watching a full gameplay with every ending years ago this game has always stayed in my heart and I recently decided to buy it on steam aswell.
Right now just finished getting a pacifist enginding,
defeating Omega Flowey and sparing him
and I've already cried several times throughout this run, this game always hits different.
Total ispirations for indies and not just those, forever shine among the darkest sky.
And despite all the neutrals, pacifists, true pacifists and genocides routes.. It is still you, the same person who began this majestic adventure.

Going into the game I expect an neat little indie rpg.
Did i get that? Yeah, but did i also get the emotional roller-coaster of a game? Definitely.
Did I get the deep lore that makes up this game? Yes.
Did I get the rich Character Development of the game? Yes
Did I get weird Lsd fever dream vibes from this game? yes
And would I play it again? Yes.

I mean like, what do you even want me to say? This is up there with one of the greatest video games ever made with games like half life 2 and Zelda BOTW.
I feel like the main reason undertale has been so influential in the indie game space and why whenever someone wants proof of video games being "art", this game gets put as an example is because of its strong focus on characters and taking advantage of the fact it is a video game.
It does not try to wow you with jaw-dropping realism or great motion capture like playstation games, it doesn't try and tell its story through cutscenes which explain how you are SUPPOSED to be feeling, it takes advantage of the fact that its story is being told through an interactive medium where you make choices and those choices matter.
It's one thing to be able to read about things like monotonous corny things like, "be kind" on a poster or to be told that through a movie but it's another thing to actually have to MAKE THAT CHOICE through the a video game where the characters act and feel like real people instead of just textboxes telling you where to go. It's a form of storytelling sadly many games don't take advantage of instead choosing to tell their stories in a medium more akin to a movie or a novel but it is a form of storytelling that not only is capable only in a video game, but it is a form of storytelling that is really, really, really goddamn hard to do. And for that, i give underpants a 9/10.

Undertale has beauty in its simplicity. It's honestly a great game that's worth playing, whether blind or spoiled.
It's a retro-style game with an intriguing storyline and lore, fun bullet hell combat, well-written memorable characters, and incredible music that definitely deserves to be called one of the greatest games ever made. Toby Fox is a poet at writing both funny dialogue that makes you laugh and powerful, heartfelt narratives that make you connect more with the characters and the world they live in, all while having the right music to fit the mood.
You will love it and it's worth the price.
10/10.
