This is the second game in the "Modern" trilogy. I like that they improved on the previous game whilst maintaining consistency.
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes Action/Adventure/Shooter RPGS
A very solid game, not really anything to complain about.
I got the Trilogy for an unbelievable bargain and it's highly worth the few dollars I paid.

Following up from the first Tomb Raider game, this game has more story and is set in a cold mountain climate with a Byzantine twist. The game was just as fun as the previous one, poking hole in dumb grunts with an assortment of weapons and climbing ropes and sheer surfaces in beautiful lanscapes. As a Norwegian I got the shivers by looking at Lara shivering in the snow storms and really felt for her when she trudged in snow up to her hips (as it reminded me of doing so myself). I like her British Accent, but I don't buy the story fully, but that doesn't matter as it is a fast-paced game set for action.

As a first time Tomb Raider Player, this game is fun as hell. Its basically everything i was looking for, semi-open world exploration with some tough-ish puzzles, lots of achievements, a good difficulty that keeps everything interesting, (even if i get brought back to my checkpoint when i die lol) quite a few upgrades and customizations for your weapons, and a good story to boot. If you've never tried this series, go for it, youll have a great time!

Riser builds on its predecessor with gorgeous environments, fluid combat, and rewarding exploration. The mix of stealth, action, and puzzles feels refined, and Lara’s character development is solid. While the story is predictable, the gameplay more than makes up for it. A must-play for action-adventure fans.

This is definitely a good game. The graphics are still holding up, and the landscapes are nicely designed—it really feels like you're exploring a cinematic world. However, the game introduces some unnecessary mechanics, like having to craft ammunition and equipment, which honestly just bloat the overall experience and kinda ruin it. Also, without the DLC and the material-gathering side tasks, you could probably finish the game in about 3 hours - with another 3 hours spent gathering, and not to mention another 3 hours collecting lore if that's something you want. It even throws in fetch-quests that together with having to collect materials seem like an attempt to mimic popular(?) open-world games, even though Tomb Raider isn’t (and shouldn’t be) an open-world title. The DLC is quite okay, and you probably won't notice you're playing it until halfway through, when you start feeling a little sidetracked. All in all, it's a fun adventure if you're into that kind of thing, but I'd only pick it up on sale.

I can’t believe this game is almost a decade old. It’s absolutely stunning — visually and mechanically — as if it was released this year.
I jumped into Rise of the Tomb Raider right after finishing the previous game, and the transition felt seamless. The gear remained mostly the same, with some upgrades. Here, Lara Croft is already an experienced adventurer, so most equipment is available from the start. With the updated graphics, it really felt like a better, stronger version of 2013’s TR Lara.
However, rushing into this game immediately after finishing the previous one was a bit of a mistake.
Don’t get me wrong, I really liked it. It’s visually beautiful, the story is decent, all the parkour/combat/puzzles present and accounted for. But the gameplay stayed essentially the same. I’d highly recommend taking a break between TR games to avoid falling into the “eh, more of the same” mindset.
This game is about twice as big as its predecessor. More locations, more activities, more tombs, more enemies — literally more of everything. If you’re a completionist, it can get overwhelming fast when trying to explore every nook and cranny.
Completionist Complain Corner
For me personally, there’s way too much additional content. You’ve got the main story, main story “chapter” replays, co-op levels, solo and co-op challenges, one story DLC, and a few DLC modes (which are kinda separate replayable “dungeon maps”). While this certainly adds replayability, most of it felt uninteresting or grindy to me. In my opinion, the main story, "Baba Yaga", and "Blood Ties" offer the best experience and are more than enough.
I also wasn’t a fan of the updated weapon upgrade system. Instead of just one gun or one bow, you now have 3–6 options for each. If you fully upgrade one rifle, you can’t just switch to another without starting the upgrade process from scratch.
To be fair, on normal difficulty, you can ignore upgrades entirely and use any weapon at any time.
The map is packed with activities, giving me strong Assassin’s Creed vibes, with tons of collectibles that can keep you playing for dozens of hours.
Conclusion
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a fantastic game. The fact that you can get it for as little as $5 is almost ridiculous. Definitely grab it if you see it on sale and save it for when you’re in the mood for an adventure!
But give yourself some time after playing the previous TR game — you’ll appreciate the sequel much more without the risk of burnout.

Definitely a step forward in every single way when compared to the original Tomb Raider reboot. Game looks like it could have released yesterday and runs like a charm with every graphics setting maxed out. Gameplay does not feel very fleshed out but I doubt that matters, its a Tomb Raider game, you are here for cinematic blockbuster set pieces and a decent story, which is exactly what you get. Exploration is definitely the highlight of this game as it expands on absolutely everything Tomb Raider 2013 did. A very good game overall and it tends to be on sale for dirt cheap basically every day of the year so its easily available to anyone. As for DLCs, only the 20 Year Celebration Pack, Cold Darkness Awakened, Baba Yaga and Endurance Mode add new content to the game, everything else is outfits and skins with different perks. Out of the 4 mentioned DLCs I recommend all of them except the Endurance Mode. Whoever developed that thing deserves to get blacklisted from every company in the games industry.
