This adds big events to the game that can wreck your plans. Its great if you want wild things to happen, but be careful if you mind having your plans get upset by random chance.

For the most part i love the events in this mod, makes things interesting :D some people complain that it makes things too hard but personally i enjoy the challenge + you can mitigate the tougher events like the artifact ai boost by bribing any ai that are currently stronger than the artifact civ to war them (dont send weaker civs after them it will feed them) also I always enjoy anything that adds new ship parts and this adds dreadlord ship parts. my only issue with this mod is the events dont happen regularly enough for my taste.

Just thoroughly disappointed in the game. I expected more from a company that has been doing these kinds of games for this long.

I have played several single player games since buying this content and nothing different has happened. I feel like this is a total waste of money.

I tried with this one. I tried over and over and *over* again, altering my play-style so that I could be more militaristic at various points in the game. Because -- that's all this dlc does. It demands that you play a harder, more aggressive (or more staunchly defensive...) game early on, and throughout the game, no matter how peaceful you've made the rest of the universe via diplomacy and other things. Consider the following scenario: You've been playing for several years worth of game-time. You've got a bunch of colonies, most defended well enough to deter whichever neighboring civilization gets grabby. Suddenly, a faction you haven't even met yet -- the map's too big for that -- declares war on you for no hecking reason. This is fine, though, because in a normal game you can just use your towering diplomacy skills to make peace once you *do* meet. But it's not a normal game. It's a *Mega Events* game, and the Peacekeepers mini-faction have come with their heavily-armed capital ships to harry every at-war faction to death in a war of attrition which saps all joy out of the game. There's no way to completely beat these a**holes, other than to make peace with that major faction who may very well be beyond the range of your ships. I've now had to ragequit two games that I'd played for a total of thirty-nine hours, and I am not best pleased. But, you know, I've played other games with this dlc enabled, and it was... okay. Still far too militaristic, but *okay*. If you're *looking* for dlc for this game which will force you to play a military game for hours and hours -- and take you away from every *possible* victory path while you're at it -- then this will be your jam. If not? Skip it.

This DLC really wasn't thought through well. If you play on an insane map the "Artefact" event will create an overpowered AI if it triggers early and the AI is not anywhere near you. This event ruined a otherwise good game I have been running for a few days. Stardock needs to fix this event, maybe have the other AI's go after it.

It's a welcome DLC with a couple flaws. First off: players complaing about the events not triggering in the reviews: You can adjust the frequency of the Mega-Events through the settings when starting a new game. Put it on the highest setting to see good results. The Good: The Mega-Events themselves are unique and interesting and can potentially change the game in significant ways, at least for several turns. These events are a welcome change to spice up the game and break it out of the normal flow. They're especially welcome in the middle part of the game when things can get tedious or slow. "Peacekeepers" is particularly game-changing and interesting. The Bad: The default settings cause the Mega-Events to not trigger very often. So when setting up your galaxy, you need to put these on the highest setting (abundant) to get them to trigger enough to really see an impact. Also, some the Mega-Events sound great in theory, but in practice don't perform very well because they are somewhat dependent on when they occur. Dread Lords is a perfect example: early in the game this is a formidable foe, but late in the game they're just a fly to swat. The Mega-Events, like Dread Lords, would be better if they scaled to the player and AI's current power. So, for example, if it's late game and the player is running around with Huge Hulls, the Dread Lords should probably have at least Large Hull ships and some aggressive tactics to try and take worlds. At any rate, I think it's totally worth the $5. It's the cost of Venti Mocha.

Do not buy this for $5, It does spice up gameplay, however the AI is rather inept and doesn't really adapt nor in any visable way react to such events. for the going price of 5$ I can not reconmend it, purely based on the fact that it should already be in the game. Take the upcoming Stellaris for example, Paradox has this sort of content already in the base game not to mention that their AI seems far more "smart" than stardocks and seems to react, (from what little I have seen). Saying this however, I would be doing you a diservice by swaying you from purchasing this item (at a lower price), just let it be known that there are problems with this dlc and the base game in general.

Don't buy this if you enjoy playing a fair game. The running theme that I've encountered on multiple scenarios (literally game ending) is that a random race that I've never made contact with will declare war on me for an assassin (random event number 1), then several turns later a race called the Peacekeepers will show up with advanced ships and wipe out my fleet for being at war (event 2). Keep in mind, I have no contact with the race that declared war on me as part of a random event, so I can't broker peace. Secondly, the Peacekeepers send advanced Large and Huge sized ships when the larger ships otherwise researched are small. I can have peace with all known races, and have the strongest fleet in the galaxy, then two random events swoop in and destroy my fleets, star bases, and shipyards, and there's literally no recourse but to scrap the scenario I've spent hours on. I will not use this BS DLC anymore.

Literally just a port of things that happened in Galciv2 in some way or another. Dreadlords will completely ruin your game unless you're playing a militaristic civ if they spawn early and close to your civ. Really need some kind of timer to keep them from spawning early. Kind of pidgeonholes you into getting at least the third tier of military ASAP unless you want to roll the dice of the dreadlords spawning on you, which rules out playing diplomatic playstyles with mega events on unless you want to gamble on them spawning on you and literally being unable to do anything about it because you were playing a puppetmaster type civ. Really dislike this.
