Classic in my opinion <3 They seemed to have thankfully fix some of the biggest game breaking bus which has made my most recent play-through a joy

After multiple playthroughs with different builds on the higher difficulties, I'm clearly a fan and very much enjoyed my time with the game. However, looking back on it, it feels a bit unfinished. I'm aware of the THQ fiasco that is very much tied with this game's development, and subsequent hiatus for the series. One can only wonder how those other 2 games would've turned out if things went differently back then. On the topic at hand - Darksiders 2 is an action RPG with elements of Zelda and GoW/DMC. Quite a weird mashup at first glance, but it mostly makes sense once you start playing. Some of these elements are certainly implemented better than others (was the letterboxing really necessary, while locked onto an enemy???), but it works quite well as a whole. The loot grind does get a bit tedious if you want to optimize your build and finish the Bloody Palace equivalent. Still, it's a strong recommendation from me, even if some of the faults are rather apparent.

Deathinitely crashing to desktop at least 3 times per session. · using soul splitter and tabbing out -> crash to desktop · getting a level up after talking to an npc -> crash to desktop · not locking your FPS to 60 -> crash to desktop · just playing the game -> crash to desktop at some point [spoiler]My desktop is very cool and has this picture of a mountain that is very pleasing to look at! Why does it feel like the sequels always get the shaft when it comes to PC ports? Darksiders Warmastered ran like a dream for my whole playthrough. Darksiders II Deathinitive is a very different story. Here's a few bugs I encountered during my completion run: - Gun ammo stopped reloading. My firearm was rendered a paperweight until I quit out and reloaded. - Music and SFX cutting out until I was playing a completely silent game. Fixed with quitting and reloading. - Cutscene with Archon would crash consistenly, blocking my progress to Earth. Turns out, if you would level up after Archon's cutscene, the game would crash every time. I went out to gain a level, came back and I got to progress. WTF. - Game randomly crashing, like in the middle of the final boss fight. Cool. Darksiders has always been kinda mid on the gameplay imo. The characters and story are very creative, and DS2s soundtrack is awesome. Wouldn't recommend completing this one. F that subquest where you collect 70 stones lmao

I like third person games. I like hack and slash. I like puzzles. I like stories. I like Darksiders II. Though I did not love having to do NG+ to grind to level 30 to do the crucible for all the achievements. But I did not dislike that part enough to avoid playing it ALL on deathinitive difficulty.

The game has an incredible premise and a fantastic protagonist, and that is where the good qualities end. The terrible camera from the first game makes its return, hindering both combat and exploration to a point where you don't want to continue. The story, which started great, devolves into "you need 3 more things to continue" to the point where I actually forgot what the main focus for the game was, until I was reminded near the end, but by the end I stopped caring. The game is filled with bugs that interfere with your ability to progress, and some key features of abilities aren't even explained, which are needed to progress. Overall, a very poorly made game and a bad view into the 2012 era of games that were filled with so much greatness.

Darksiders 1-3 - 100% Completion - Short Review Franchise Score: 8/10 Been much too long since i played these games to give them a proper review but decided to make this short review in anticipation and support of the newly announced Darksiders 4 game. Overall this game and the others in the franchise are all amazing games with fun combat, good story and overall just old school gaming fun really and i enjoyed all of them, so if your in doubt, don't be, their great and you will have fun playing them, but as always, It's.. Up.. To.. You, and i'll leave it at that (^_−).

After Darksiders 1, this game disappointed me. First, the technical stuff. The number of bugs and crashes I have encountered is pretty bad. Every area has its own set of issues, ranging from progression locks and crashes to doors not opening. If you search for most bugs, you will find a solution but it was not worth it in the end. This game also required a frame lock to play the game on newer hardware, which you can't do in-game and need to force it from external software. Secondly, the game is dated. The open world serves no purpose other than to increase your travel time. Most of the self-contained dungeons are fine or even good and the game would have been much better if they went the Darksiders 1 route of semi-open world. The Diablo-like colour-coded gear progression is honestly a waste of time, especially since it's just surface level with 3 elements and some damage/healing bonus. The combat generally is better, but the lock-on system is still bad even with early 2010 standards. The collectables this time around are also a chore due to the sheer number of things you are required to collect. The progression of these quests seems pointless. Like a lot of early 2010 games, there are a lot of choices made to pad out the play time just for the sake of it. QOL in menus is again pretty bad, instead of 8 shortcuts in the last game you only get 4 now. Make managing abilities much more annoying, and also makes combat with abilities annoying. The settings menu still lacks options and has no noticeable improvement from the first game. Even after all these issues, I managed to finish up to ACT 3, so there is an enjoyable experience here. Sadly, the issues got piled on too much for me. It's just a 2010 game with a lot of game design decisions of old, and it's just not good at the current time.

I first played this on the 360 and never got back to it after the big golem boss. Collect 3 things to collect 3 things to collect 3 things to collect 3 things. Cool hack and slash game, although very artificially inflated playtime and repetitive combat. Death is less edgy than War, but still rather funny to play as, due how broody and gritty he is. Combat is fun, fast paced and hits feel good. There are some variation of secondary weapons and a few combos, but its mostly button mashing. Lots of padding, dungeons are way too long, requires a lot of backtracking. When you think you are finally finishing a dungeon, you find out you just finished part 1 out 4. 20 hours in, I was about around the mid point, I'd say. Seem everything in this game requires you to find 3 rocks or 3 keys to progress. Then you need to get an item and that item needs 3 other items. "Hey Death, to bring back mankind you need to talk to this guy and ask him about to bring mankind back." "Death, I require you to get 3 keys to unlock this door so I can tell you how to bring mankind back." "Yes Death, I have one of the keys, but I need you to recover these 3 artifacts so I can trade it to you." Some of my major complaints: - The camera is really bad. You usually fight several enemies at once, trying to focus in one blocks the view of the others, but the free camera is too annoying to control while you fight. - Too many stuff, too little shortcuts. During a certain point you will have to pause the game to swap items or activate skills, as you can only keybind 4. Subweapons and skills have to share. - Death is slow. As in REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY slow. He won't walk faster than a slow run, even his horse (on the few places you can use him) is slow as hell and has limited dashes before you have to wait. - No checklist for collectables. You missed one pebble or page and weren't following a guide from the start? You will have to revisit EVERY SINGLE SPOT trying to find it. - Glitches. Had some cases of getting stuck in rocks, not being able to move after unpausing the game, the hud dissapearing, sounds stopping, puzzles not activating. - Puzzles are streamlined. You can sometimes sequence break by jumping on some spots, but most of the time you can only jump on allowed walls, as every other ledge or wall is broken, or just can't be climbed for no reason. Its somewhat a good game, but it really should have been 1/3, maybe 1/2, the length.
