Too cool for mortals. This game has nothing to prove and acts like it.

Not that great. For a bullet hell game the hitboxes are hard to judge and deaths don't feel justified. Although it is cheap, not really worth it.

Spaceman Sparkles 2 is not very fun. If you are a fan of low budget crappy bullet hells that this is the game for you

Great game, I fell in love with it before its release on steam. It's really easy to get into and nailing a boss feels great.

This is as though Dark Souls went to school and was a fucking pussy. This is as though you're crashing into a wall of unpaid student loans and diamonds. This is a fucking great game, but I cannot handle it.

Gameplay: Horrible. No tutorial or explanations provided about what should be basic concepts - i.e. floors that change colors. Constants deaths and no checkpoints coupled with boring gameplay add for infuriating yet unrewarding gameplay. Graphics: exactly as per the images provided on the store page. Colorful, minimalistic, and over the top. Music: decent, I suppose fits the psychodelic gameplay/graphics of the game. Rating: 4/10 based off the base price. I know is only 3$ but that is still too much given the simplistic gameplay, and the crappy gameplay. Should wait for a sale or coupon but I still would not recommend even then.

This game, man. Bullet hell + Hotline Miami + Pixel + unique addictive gameplay + dat sick beats + colorful pixel art + press Y to [strike] dance[/strike] change your life + 3 fcking bucks + lasers. + gauntlet update is going to make me busy, no doubt. +/- it is painfully difficult, but you'll be bobbing your head in the entire game anyway - Some minor bugs 9/10, love it! I will wait till it became a franchise and reach Sparkles 64.

Prelim Review: In a world full of Gacha games, Idle games, MMOs, Depression, and Despair, it's nice to know there's still games like these, showing what fun games can actually be like. The instructions could have been a bit more...detailed, I guess? I'll update this review after I hundo it....though I will admit right now that I bought this game to get emotes from the points shop to use in a meme post. Wasn't really gonna play it soon...but there is/was a heatwave, so I gave it a shot while I waited for cooler-ness and this game turned out to be pretty fun so far. And as I played it, I realized: it's been ages since I played just a simple little game like this. So, yeah, I'll actually try to hundo it b4 the end of the year. I'm not very good at the genre, if the first boss was anything to go by, but I'll do my best.

The game definitely looks and sounds nice, to begin with, and it has some really interesting ideas in it, but that's about as far as it goes. The game is an arena shooter built around a series of rather gimmicky mechanics, which more or less take over all the shmup elements. The controls are very unintuitive and irritating. The dubious decision to use both the keyboard and mouse, as well as the extreme discomfort of reaching over to the number keys, really hurts the game, and it feels like it was designed exclusively for left-handed people. Often, getting the controls to do what I want is the hardest part. This alone will probably be a deal-breaker to most shmup fans. I like the idea of having large open levels between the bosses, but they feel empty, tacked-on, and devoid of action, and most of the time one only needs to see a small part of them to progress anyway. The bosses are interesting and are probably the best part of the game. On one hand, they are exciting and colourful and each one offers something new, but some tend to overuse annoying puzzle elements while others lack intricacy, and it's not uncommon for a boss to use the exact same attack for more than 15 seconds at a time. There are some good things in it, but it mostly feels like just another janky reinvention of shmups for reinvention's sake.
