If you find this game on a sale, and you are a 40K fun, just buy it. Be aware of the cheating AI, even on easy, enemy will go to your objectives before they appear on map, they will dodge every long range attack (torpedoes etc) and you will reset (or fail) multiple missions, yes even on easy. The 'story' is fine, gameplay takes a minute to get familiar with, but the missions do get repetitive reminding me dark crusade and soulstorm , voice actors are very good (although chaos sometimes sound like Orks) and the music is what you would expect from a 40K game - Epic.

Great game for those who like the naval battles and ships of 40k

90% of your playtime is getting to the enemy, only to have an incredibly underwhelming and spongy battle when you get there.

I would not recommend this game. It looks and feels like a cool WH40k game but the design is horrible. The AI "cheats" all over the place, missions require 4-5 attempts just to see what kind of tactic you where supposed to use and the ships can't handle themselves, you'll have to micro each and every detail if you want any shot at winning

Every single thing that this game does, the sequel does better. That's not to say that this is a bad game, because it is a faithful recreation of the tabletop game that has a decent campaign set in one of the iconic space wars of the Warhammer setting. It does the job it sets out to do. The ships look nice, and pulling off a good strategy can feel good, but in the end, they'll look nicer and the strategies are more in depth in the sequel. Play it for the campaign if you want, but be aware that many of the issues people have had with it through the years are valid. The computer forces seem to know your objectives/maneuvers and will go out of their way to aggravate you as much as possible. Bugs are decently common, with a particular one being the allied ships you occasionally have to protect in missions forgetting their mission and just sitting there forever, leading to a reset or failure. Admiral Spire's tale is fun, but you will have to endure some misery to get through it. Truly grimdark.
