This game was more than I ever could have hoped for. I noticed it in the family library and figured, "Hey, I like narrative games and sci-fi." But Tacoma was so much more than that. It feels corny to say it was An Experience, but everything about Tacoma was so perfectly executed that just calling it a game feels like a drastic undersell. I ended up invested in the setting and the characters, even the characters I didn't initially like, and the emotional hits were stronger and stronger as the story unfolded along excellent pacing. I loved the use of sign language to interface with virtual reality, the natural-feeling relationships, and the balance of the quiet moments with the quasi-urgency of the main plot. I'll need some time to recover from my first play-through before I go back, but playing this game might become an annual tradition. I had to buy my own copy, just to make sure the devs got more money because they really earned it with this one. Tacoma has inspired me to try everything by this studio now.

It is cool but very short. I wish there were more locations and just a deeper story to this, it kind of feels like a demo. There are no decisions to make, it is literally just walking and listening. The voice acting is amazing tho. Played 100% on steam deck with highest settings. Worked very well and looked amazing. I think get this on a steep discount.

I enjoyed this narrative experience and found meeting the characters a lot of fun. This one isn't huge on "gameplay" but has a really tight and well thought out story.

Short but interesting walking sim with slight puzzle elements. Similar to The Station in some ways. Nice for a one-shot session.

A very compelling walking simulator about a small cast in a small play space. Despite the small nature of the game there are tons of details and connections. The voice cast is very good in their roles. One little detail that I like is the fact that there are many different written languages across the various packages and products that are brought aboard. In the end I am very satisfied with the tone that the game takes. Without spoiling exactly what that tone is, it is one that left me thinking about the game after I rolled credits.

Tacoma plays like a movie in terms of both duration and content, but it’s still hard not to love its optimistic story of working class solidarity in the face of ghoulish capitalist exploitation.

one of my favourite narrative focused games, i can't recommend it enough. it feels so alive and full of familiarity and wonder. The people and AIs all seem real and their struggles too. Just in general very well polished and enjoyable little detective game. The queer relationships are also quite nice, in general the game has a nice feeling about people which is hopeful and optimistic despite all hardship.

Tacoma's gameplay and programming is more polished than Gone Home, but the latter was harder hitting for me story-wise. The plot also hasn't aged particularly well. Play Gone Home

I played Tacoma because I really loved Gone Home. And, honestly, it's really not as good of a game as Fullbright's first investigation game. The extremely grounded 90s reality of Gone Home was something special. It was documentary, and it was easy to inhabit. The world of Tacoma is, unfortunately, not as interesting, even if it is far more imaginative. The environments feel less inhabited. The reality feels less real. The imagination feels wasted, in a way.
