This game is amazing!! Wiether you like sandbox games, space games, multiplayer games, or any other genre, Manyland has you covered. Everything in the world has been drawn and placed by other players, and if you like an object, you can collect it and place it down in your own areas. If you want to test this game, you can try the ad-supoported version at manyland.com

Ive been playing this game off and on for a couple years now (browser) and I can say the community has gotten a bit childish, but that should not stop you from playing this.
Manyland is a great creative and social outlet, where you can draw up almost anything with pixels. There are no objectives or goals, other than the goals or objectives you set for yourself. Everything that makes up the universe (or Manyverse) has been drawn by other players. You can find some really amazing worlds others have created, and even collect the things you would like to use in your own worlds (Things you collect cannot be edited and still give credit to original artist). The community has created platformers, hangouts, secret bases, trivia, and all sorts of games and other neat events. Some of the more complex blocks have a bit of a learning curve, but have a link for tutorial videos.
That being said, do not let the immature members ruin your experience with this game. It is still completely possible to meet other amazing people to hang out with.
My in game name is Skops, if you see me say hello!

I didn't really quite find the game that fun at all. Sure there are some positives, like being able to create your own blocks and avatars, but on the other side, there's not much to it.

Okay, let's be clear here.
I DO reccomend this game, I do NOT reccomend purchasing the Steam version unless you really, really hate ads. I really reccomend checking it out on the web first.
Do you like pixel art? Yes? Do you like pixel art... in a prime number canvas? 19x19 blocks make drawing anything uniform a real pain.
I'm sorry, I love pixel art, but the canvas size absolutely kills the game for me. I can't draw anything uniform.
If you DON'T like drawing pixel art, you can still grab other people's stuff and build with it, or if you don't mind the prime-number canvas, go right ahead and try it on the web. I really don't reccomend the Steam version though.
It's a really amazing idea and should be much better, but it's kinda poorly executed.
It could use a proper sprite-management system and the canvas being resized, and one minor character-sprite-flipping bug fixed. Sadly, the second of these three things would require everything people have drawn to be wiped, pretty much.
Oh, and what'd be REALLY nice is a paintbrush-style thing, rather than a drag-drop copy system. Try drawing something in Everybody Edits, then in Manyland, and you'll see EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

I really enjoy this game, as I've always loved making pixel art and building in a community-based sense. (I hail from the days of ThePalace and it's 'apartment' worlds.) Because it is still a game that recieves updates, the nature of its abilities change now and then.
At the current date (5/2/2018), here is a list of things I find good and bad about Manyland.
GOOD -
Ability to create pixel art with a large amount of color slots
Scripting language is fairly easy to learn and there are complex guides on the main website
Making your own worlds is great!
Custom avatars/bodies/skins
You can choose if your creations are cloneable/editable by other people or not.
You can collect other created objects if you care to place them in your own world or wear them as avatars, accessories, etc.
VERY quick support from the creator of the game, as long as you post on the proper Steam forums!
BAD -
The inventory system is pretty primitive. You can technically make Holders but you have to manually place things one at a time in them, and then delete the ones in your collected inventory if you want to clean it up. The search function works well to find things, but I'd prefer if I could somehow categorize everything in the inventory slot itself.
Strangely enough the creation space is 19x19 and so forth. Very odd to have a prime number.
Lag bursts, enough that it affects everyone on screen briefly.
Cannot change the name of, or delete areas... there are a few I have that I regret, title-wise, and would prefer to clean them up.
NEUTRAL -
A ton of people in and out as this is also an IOS app elsewhere, and online. Though most of them seem to be kids UNDER 13 that need to be better monitored by their parents (cough.)
Visiting other worlds is usually as simple as saying "To World", while the search feature for areas is a little limited.
Overall, I find the game to be fun despite these flaws (that may be worked on in the future) and very much enjoy the community aspects among those who create things. Come on by and say hello to Meddy if it so tickles your fancy!

Manyland it was a great game for animating and drawing. It got me better at Pixel art.
However the game is ultimately shut down now.
(Since it is unpurchasable and unable to do anything with it.)
I obviously don't recommend it.
You can't even play on the website either.

Farewell, Manyland. This was essential for me growing up, and after 9 years it's coming to an end. It was such a perfect game for me, with endless possibilities. I'll cherish the memories I've had with this game.

I played the browser version before this but decided to finally give in and buy steam because I couldn't handle the new ad format google made the browser version use. It was worth it to get rid of the ads, but mostly to help support the cost of keeping Manyland running. :)

this game had potential to be something great, but as far as i can see its just a dumping ground for children with no parental supervision. it's difficult to create anything with 13 year olds pestering you to "go on dates" through the game. they seem to assume that anyone with a decent skin is attractive in real life or not dangerous. i started playing this game when it first came out and maturaty levels have always been a problem. the game is about creating fun complex things to share, not dating and making sexual situations between children. i understand you can't control what people do or say on such a huge game, but allowing 13 year olds to join is and always was asking for a problem. finding decent people to create with in this game is rather difficult.
the positive
if you manage to level up ring status you can create your own worlds and avoid these children at all costs. you can ban/flag any player that decides to slober over your skin by making sexual advances through the game (a double edged sword, really. the children can also ban you as well for turning them down!) any block you wish to create can be created, you can make grass blocks to walk on, furnature to sleep/sit on and you can even create food items. ive made multiple themed worlds with smaller sub areas, this game can be rewarding and fun if you avoid almost everyone in it.

For those that do not know, the game's server has closed due to budget running out.
However, you can still download this game and view the museum made by the developers of this game, Philipp Lensson and Scott Lowe.
The sister game made by the same developers, "Anyland" has also closed as it was sharing a server with Manyland.
Rest in peace Manyland, its 12 year long journey will not be forgotten, as its community will live on and had collectively come together to preserve all that they could in its last moments.
2/29/2024 3:25am(EST) manyland DNS shutdown, at 6:45 AWS (EST) server completely down, all players out of manyland.
As we spent what time we had together on its minutes, many of us has come out of this experience having met many talented individuals, whether they were an artist, a coder, or just simply apart of the community, and it would not be complete without all those that contributed to this game's living footprint online.
Many have saved screenshots and creations as commemoration of what Manyland was like, what we saw, now has been immortalized through the dedication of its players, and the developers.
Manyland also has a monumental site "offlineland.io", some worlds have been saved and can be explored by anyone. For players that had played manyland, offlineland.io will offer many more features, such as building, creating, and even muliplayer options in the future. Many of us were passionate about Manyland, and the community. Some very talented coders from the community have developed the website offlineland.io and area areabackup.com, to assist in ensuring Manyland shall continue to exist in some form and bring joy to those who loved it so dearly.
There are a couple manyland servers that are publicly available online at disboard.com, please join if you are interested in joining our amazing community and having your own manyland experience on offlineland.io.
We are hoping for more similar Manyland-like games to arise, as Manyland paved way for this genre and inspired many to pursue it. As for now, the community has been enjoying many other games available on steam and outside.
