RPG Maker VX Ace - Tales of the Far East DLC

This is recommended if you need the out in the desert alone feel that gets you thinking, "now where's everyone at"? Basically they are really, really drummy in some instances and just like airy, dusty in some areas. Ah, if there were more Arabic singers doing there thing. Better yet, there needs to me some sort of tropical DLC for those considering party on the beach rather then pirate plunder.

This pack is very authentic-sounding, and really helps flush out a region. There isn't enough here for a full game, unless you're doing something with small episodes. This would probably fit better if you're developing a large world with varied environments and cultures, as it adds a lot of flavor. However, you'd definitely need other assets as there is a lack of variety in it.

So, we have Tale's From The Far East. To it's credit, it is authentic sounding. But the name is misleading. I bought this pack, because I needed some music for a Japanese-themed portion of my project. I was however, disappointed. It sounds mostly like middle-eastern music. Music from Arabia, Africa, and three tracks that are more Chinese sounding. You'll find a mix of most 'main-stream' eastern music styles, and also some ambiance, so be ready for a mixed bag. Many of the songs are decidedly too 'authentic'. They seem to clash some with the came's base music, but there isn't enough music in this pack to base a decent length game around. Many tracks feature sharp flute-work, that though it does sound authentic, you'll likely find yourself turning the pitch and volume down, trying to blunt the overwhelming pitch of the flute over the other sounds. There are a couple songs that are gems in this pack, in which the flute-work is more in balance, or otherwise the track is pleasant to my western ears, while still sounding authentic. But even then, within each track there isn't a lot of signature variation. The loop feels short, and the repetative drums or even the focal instrument become repetative and even annoying to listen to for too long. I don't recommend this, unless your project already features a massive array of locations and music that will help make these tracks not feel like an isolated alien among the standard JRPG themes. I myself, rather regret buying this. But there 'is' some art to be found in the music, if you really need the middle-east feel within your project. I myself ended up turning to other music packs for my project, using only one song of this pack so far.
