Hard to believe it's been 9 years already from the last great Worms experience (Rumble was a mistake). If you're a fan of Armageddon/Reloaded/World Party you owe it to yourself to check this one out. Cool new additions to the classic formula like vehicles, pleasant artstyle, plenty of campaign/challenge missions to master, great variety of weapons and that specific humour, it's all here. It's actually a bit surprising how well this game is after pretty bad Revolution/Clan Wars/Battlegrounds era. So yeah, WMD is pretty much a diamond shining between two bad franchise periods, it's puzzling that Team 17 didn't iterate on it and instead for almost a decade only came up with a failed experiment (plus Armageddon remaster for consoles).

WWorms is basically the most fun multiplayer game series in history (no hyperbole) and wwhile WW.M.D lacks many wweapons from prior games that i personally wwish wwere in it, i wwould probably consider it the best WWorms game on avverage for wwhat it adds

I used to love the older Worms games. This reminds me so much of them. Super fun to play and easy controls too!

Merits: ▪ Classic Worms gameplay ▪ Addition of vehicles, crafting, and new weapons ▪ Humour and charm ▪ Local and online multiplayer ▪ Tutorials, Campaign and challenges Flaws: ▪ Steep learning curve ▪ Repetitive levels Verdict: I found Worms W.M.D. to be a delightful mix of classic (like Armageddon) and new features. It has the usual funny comments and the new crafting and vehicle mechanics added a fresh twist to the formula. It has different gameplay modes and improved graphics. All in all, it is a fun game to play against friends, recommended. Rating: ★★★★☆ - Great

The campaigns from my favorites Armageddon or World Party would have to turn green with envy when looking at the one from W.M.D, like a worm hit with a good dose of poison. If there is one game element that clearly shows how much times have changed, it is the campaign. One main goal is accompanied by three side quests, which can be mastered in one playthrough of the map with a little patience. But of course, nothing prevents you from whizzing through the level like the wind and trying another one before returning to completing the side quests, which you then win with as entertaining details. Some are quite simple (kill two worms with one shot, drown a worm), others require planning and skill in controlling the worm and its arsenal of weapons. For example, not losing a life when outnumbered five to one is not exactly easy, because even one unsuccessful jump can decide success or failure. The juice of all this effort is added by the typical worm humor, which reflects the biggest social clichés from drunk Russians to Mexicans in hats and rappers with terrible names like 20 Pence. The creators spared no one and even the names of individual operations within the campaign are beautiful puns - Church and Destroy speaks for itself, Créme de la Kremlin takes place in Russia and Juan Shot - Juan Kill unexpectedly in Mexico. Another aspect that nicely reflects current gaming trends is leveling. For winnings, the player gains a certain amount of experience and gradually levels up his game account. The reward is gifts, in which you can find new victory poses for the worm team, new voices or fanfares and tombstones. It is actually quite a pleasant variety that rewards the player for going through the campaign and completing small tasks. Worms W.M.D. is back in all its glory, bringing with it not only tanks and loads of humor, but above all hours of fun, which is mainly provided by multiplayer. Worms W.M.D. does not offer revolutionary game mechanics or breathtaking graphics. 55%

It's moderately good. Maybe it's even a 2nd or a 3rd best Worms game. However, it's still lacks a lot of, a lot of things compared to good old WA. Physics engine is near as good as it was 26 years ago and many skill based mechanics were cut for some reason? The devs either didn't care to actually implement them, or they did it for the sake of brainless gameplay that the modern audience would be more likely to enjoy. New vehicle system is unbalanced as it could be and literally everyone in MP just abuses them, because they give an unfair amount of advantage (I absolutely cannot comprehend how could someone test it and say "Yeah, it's good"). Also no custom soundbanks support as of 2025, I guess Team17 were busy making that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ battle royale no one asked for. If you want the true "Worms experience", I strongly advice you to buy Worms Armageddon. It's still getting updates from time to time and still work amazingly on modern systems.
