Delta Force Xtreme is a Partial remake of the original delta force from 1998, I'd reccomend it if youre interested in trying earlier tactical shooters, but only if its on sale.

Very funny, wacky arcade shooter; Playable proof of Novalogic's comedic talent :D
I think it's hilarious how this game pretends to be all serious and tactical, but in reality it isn't even close. :D
It gives you realistic weapons and gadgets, grounded and simple mission goals, lets you choose your loadout before each mission, you can drive vehicles, and you even have ally soldiers by your side.
But all that is just smoke and mirrors....
In gameplay, it's a very light and relaxing arcade FPS with only a decorative layer of military theme. :)
You get dropped on a pretty large, open map and run (sometimes drive) to your first objective. 30 seconds later you can see a big number of enemy soldiers far far away. Some of them try to get close to you, others just run around like headless chickens trying to distract you, while the rest try to shoot you from far away. Interestingly, they are NOT hitscanners. You can see their bullets flying by and leaving colorful tracers behind them. If you keep moving around, most of the enemy's bullets will just miss you.
After death you get a chance to choose a new loadout and respawn at the last checkpoint. But here's the twist: the game won't reset objectives, and dead bad guys won't respawn. Basically, everything you manage to do before dying will just stay like that. The only time I've seen this system before is in some GameGuru games. :)
Personally, I like the simplicity and comedic edge of this game; I think it's perfect for short bursts - jump in, do 3 missions, jump out.
Ah, and you can roll around when you go prone, which is mostly pointless, but a unique and hilarious mechanic - I love that. :)
Don't worry about my short playtime; I had this on Steam only for a moment but played the non-steam version a few years ago. :)
