This game doesn't know if it wants to be a puzzle platformer or a precision platformer, and absolutely does not have the tight controls required to be the latter.
Pros:
- Some of the gravity changing puzzles are pretty fun
- The story was interesting
- Good voice acting
- Graphics are good
Cons:
- The game requires incredibly precise movement to solve some 'puzzles'. There were several times where I had the correct solution to the puzzle, but was not doing the inputs perfectly enough, leading to failure that made me question if I was on the right track with the puzzle. This completely destroys the point of a puzzle. There were way too many times I asked myself "Am I stupid, or is the game stupid?"
- There is absolutely no difficulty curve to speak of. Most levels can be passed by grabbing just one item. After a few levels, the game hits you with a precision platforming sequence the game did absolutely nothing to prepare you for.
- Music is a mixed bag. Some is great, and some is agonizingly repetitive and annoying. One level has the music cut out for a solid 20 seconds before looping.
- Loading screens are awful and are the longest I have seen in a PC game in a long time.
If you like puzzle platformers, you will not like the level of precision required to complete some puzzles.
If you like precision platformers, you will not like how slippery and awkward the controls are.
This game felt like it was trying to be hard just for the sake of being hard, rather than being a fun experience. If you like puzzle platformers, give Fez a try instead. If you like precision platformers, I recommend Celeste or Aeterna Noctis.
