Pros:
- Looks great at 4K.
- Map is very granular and shows everything in a given zone.
Cons:
- I struggled to find my way to the next objective despite the detailed map. I had to have a detailed understanding of my current ability scope because most exits are ability gated until later.

First off, I am an avid Metroidvania/Hand-Drawn 2D fan, so this checked a lot of boxes out of the gate. The art-style is gorgeous but what sets it apart from others is that it's not like "anime" style characters; they're more reminiscent of like 90's X-Men meets Avatar and I'm all here for it.
The music, while a bit limited in variety, are all bangers, the controls are fluid and clean, and the areas are beautiful (though sometimes a bit samey)
I'm maybe 1/2 - 2/3 of the way through the game and I really have enjoyed the atmosphere and play-style of Inayah but I have a few qualms:
1. The voice acting leaves a lot to be desired, I kind of threw me out the story when emphasis and inflection were weird and clunky
2. Usually runs fine but certain areas are a little laggier than others, I found that if it ever got noticeable, i reset would clear it up.
3. I like the combat overall, but it doesn't have enough heft to the blows, if you get what I mean. Like, it feels like even the bosses take hits like they're paper, I like when the combat is like Nine Sols or Hollow Knight when you almost feel the strikes hitting the enemy.
All in all: Easily worth the price point, I don't really like the map system or the VA overall but everything else is pretty high quality!

Really fun game, definitely recommended for MV fans, especially if you love fast, snappy movement. Scratched a bit of the itch I've been missing since Aeterna Noctis. The map is absolutely massive without a ton of fast travel points, so it's a good thing movement is so good... you'll be doing it a lot.
While the combat is mechanically solid and fast-paced, the upgrade system is probably the weakest thing about the game. It has huge upgrade trees build across multiple weapons, so it's very overwhelming at first, but once you start to understand it, there are so many ways to abuse it. Certain combinations of upgrades and equipment will trivialize the combat, so if you're looking for a combat challenge, maybe avoid them.

For the first game by a brand new indie studio, Inayah is a monumental achievement. A large, gorgeous world to explore, numerous enemies and bosses to fight, and a solid soundtrack make this a game that I would easily recommend. I have some issues with the game, most of which can be traced back to the fact that its an indie game without a massive budget, but nothing that kept me from enjoying my time with it.
This game is visually stunning. The handpainted art, stylish character and enemy designs, and smooth animations really draw you into the post-apocalyptic world of Inayah. Beyond the art the game isn't exclusively exploration or plot driven, but combines the two effectively, giving you reasons to go off the beaten path and explore the different biomes and areas. I was able to get all of the questlines done in the fourteen hours, and there's enough small collectibles that a completionist can get a few more out of the game as well.
The dialogue can be a bit of a mixed bag for some people, with the majority of the friendly characters being fun and quirky teenagers who speak a mix of modern lingo and post-apocalyptic tribal, while simultaneously dealing with pretty dark themes. Slavery, trauma, and genocide are brought up regularly, sexual abuse is implied in one area, and history of the world shows that things have been pretty grim for a while. You watch your mentor and father figure get savagely pulped by a mining robot in the first few minutes, but his spirit accompanying you later on tells you that it's important to watch your temper and be nice to strangers among other family-friendly lessons.
Combat is fast and fluid, completely with large tech trees for each of the three weapons (In addition to 'crests' for general improvement and healing), which is good because you'll be doing a lot of fighting. Balance is a bit of an issue, since two of the weapons are, in my opinion, vastly superior to the third, and you will almost certainly become an overpowered wrecking ball by mid-to-late game. Despite that, I still had a lot of fun experimenting and fighting the bosses, most of whom are pretty unique in execution. Some even come with their own animated cutscenes, which look excellent.
As it turns out, every issue I have with the game is something that the devs are aware of and actively improving. Even with those small problems I have, I still enjoyed Inayah a ton. A great game that is only going to get better in time, and I am looking forward to the future of it.
