There's a lot of potential for this game. In the beginning of a match it's quite enjoyable, but monster health and damage quickly outpaces your own meaning you're going to be spending half of your remaining time fixing the paper thin walls. Walls that get more expensive every time you build one for some reason, and that you are unable to control the shape of. The tutorial is done over several text boxes rather than in-game so I had to read it a couple times to retain everything. Runes don't feel like they do anything. As far as I can tell citadels are unexplained as to what their purpose is. Enemy numbers feel good at first, but spike very rapidly. I'm returning the game for now, but will be keeping an eye on its progress.

5 minutes in and you can already see this game was designed by a lazy ass. There's not real tutorial, just a wall of image and text to explain the game, but no tutorial to show you the basics. It tells you that you can switch to build mode any time, but never teaches you how, and there are no key binds in the settings to enter build mode. I'm just going to swipe my hand across my entire keyboard and see if I can figure out what keys do what. Pure idiotic game design. I may keep playing more than 10 minutes, and bang my head against the wall while I hit every key on my keyboard. But seriously the introduction to this game is absolutely terrible and lazy on the part of the devs.

I want to love the only game to steal mechanics from NES Rampart. But this was pushed out the door too soon. My game got eaten by bugs, and now when I try to load my saves, it goes straight to halfway through a level while also choosing a starting fort location, and also all the towers randomly move, and I can't leave build mode while the UI is invisible.
Heartbreaking. More games should try new things, but this developer's reach exceeded their grasp.

This game is on to something, and it has its fun moments. There is a sweet spot for about 5 minutes where its great, but it gets annoying to play very quick. Progression feels lackluster and slow, and combat gets stale. Needs a lot more work before its worth spending money on.

Its just not fun.
The balance is abysmal, i gave up trying at level 3 and i run into the same issues that i had in the levels before.
I usually was able to hold the enemy off decently enough up to a point i got overwhelmed around wave 13~18 depending what upgrades i managed to roll. Which is still less then 50% of a level which had me just struggle nonstop trying to keep my walls fixed up while hopelessly trying to fend off anything close to my walls but to no avail because the enemy spawns do not let up.
I identified a few design choices that were quite unintuitive and just did not work together well.
Without the right rune equipped on your early archers your projectiles are really slow which is fine but absolutely every non-stationary hostile has a random movement pattern. It would REALLY help if their movement was more straight forward even if it means they would be at my base faster.
Same enemy types end up scaling some as the waves happen which feels absolutely horrid to work with, often times i have two upgrades on my bomblista that once were able to wipe out an entire group, and suddenly be unable to 2 waves later.
Upgrades are level locked and despite hitting a hard wall at level 3 i can only get more upgrades at level 6, which is quite a rough patch to get through.
Im not a developer but i truely believe this would be more fun and less stressful if there was more time between waves with a hotkey to call a wave early.
Your arsenal is extremly limited, you have your starting spell, and 3 weapon types built to do something specific so its critical you choose your building path wisely, that often requires some foresight, cannon upgrades are pointless when the game throws alot of dragons at you that are best dealt with ballista's. Something like fieldtraps, some automated defenses to deal with low tier stragglers could help with this to take some of the stress off.
All in all i tried this game a few times and all i got out of it is a higher blood pressure.
