If you own the game, you get access to it. With the DLC, you get access to traditional Roman/Barbarian "Banner" units, which are really just men added to your existing legions/units that make them look more realistic. Of specific note is the Roman Aquilifer, which is the standard bearer of the legion. The most interesting note of historical realism is that a REAL Roman Aquilifer was recorded by Ceaser as being a standard bearer who foguht alongside him during the Gallic Wars [pretty appropriate considering the time period we are playing in]. The actual quote by Ceaser, source Harry Llyod Miller: "Ex quibus Lucius Petrosidius aquilifer, cum magna multitudine hostium premeretur, aquilam intra vallum proiecit; ipse pro castris fortissime pugnans occiditur" Or "From [which] Lucius Petrosidius, [an Eagle-bearer], although hard pressed by a great multitude, threw the eagle behind the wall. He was killed most bravely fighting for the camp." RIP Lucius Petrosidius, turned into a group of pixels for the purposes of FreeLC. Tl:dr Free DLC, adds nice historically appropriate customization to your units.
