This is a very fun game. Immersive for me. The story line is so perfect and crisp that it is difficult not to get hooked! Love this game and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Where do I start. The music is amazing, the combat is fun and strategic, and the story is really good. The character design and the art style is really unique with all of these cell-shaded and realistc games coming around now. A great game all around, and I'm pumped for the sequal.

I have yet just started. It's quite enjoyable thus far. The combat system is elegant, the art is clean and colorful. I feel as though I am personally entwined in an epic journey. The fluidity that the story brings with options that truly make a difference in your trek. It somewhat reminds me of another game: Massive Chalice. The impending danger coupled with the morality and food system really bring this game to life. All that being said I would most certainly recommend this game to anyone who likes action, strategy and rpgs.

I first saw this game on my Steam feed, and some sort of combination of the music, and the game play plucked at me. I put it on my wishlist, since at the time I had no free time to play it. Then, just yesterday it was on sale, and I had some free time due to the holidays. After playing it for about 8 hours, I already felt the chances for multiple play throughs as the decisions you make are pretty irreversible. Like xcom iron man, mixed with Oregon Trail, meets vikings... Or perhaps more like a Viking flavored Oregon Trail, with some Xcom iron man aspects. The difficulty is not nearly as punishing as Xcom, and you can change difficulty mid fight if you need/want to. I like that the story jumps around between different characters, as the stories come together. It makes the decisions as to which characters you invest in important, for story as much as playstyle. The sound track is excellent, and the animation, and art reminds me of Samurai Jack, but not as sharp, and angular. Perhaps this game reminds me very much of Final Fantasy tactics, and there are so far countless combinations of characters that seem to compliment each other. I still haven't figured out half of it. Lots of replayability, and engaging enough. There are a few dialogue options that I felt were a little immature, and some of the spelling & grammar were off in a few places, but as far as story goes I couldn't find much else wrong. I think the only other thing I could ask for would be an way to rotate, and maybe tilt the map during battle sequences from time to time, because sometimes bodies stack up making it difficult to see. That being said though, I have not had any difficulty clicking, or selecting a unit amidst a pile of clutter. So whoever coded that, props to them.
Give this game a go, for the holiday sale price, it's a great buy, and good entertainment.

Written after 2 playthrus.
A fantastic game best saved for a rainy afternoon. You lead your caravan across a hostile viking world during a time when an old enemy known as 'the Dredge' have reappeared. Along the way, you have to make really tough choices and more often than not, solving one problem creates another. Supplies, morale and the allegiances you strike will altar your course as you are relentlessly hounded across the map.
The turn-based combat is very addictive, simple to pick up but tricky to master. The narrative really drives the game and is well supported by some excellent writing and a very ambient soundtrack. I would not reccomend buying the soundtrack unless it's in a sale however. It's all very well done but I doubt it can stand independantly of the game.
It's hard to talk about my individual experiences without giving away spoilers so I will just say,
If you enjoy survival games with a dollop of turn based combat plus a very good story then this game is absolutely worth it's asking price.

Definitely one of my favorite games I have in my library, I plan on starting another playthrough soon actually. The whole game is beautiful and breathtaking, same goes for the combat. I yearn for the sequel to come out soon!

Calling this a game would be wrong. It's an interactive experience and it's one that I absolutely loved. The gameplay element is simple and fun, but takes a back seat to a beautiful, emotive narrative where you really feel the tension as you have to make countless difficult choices upon which the fate of your loved ones depends.
The writing, art and music in this game are all things of beauty standing alone. When seamlessly interwoven to create the experience as a whole they become a game that I enjoy more than any book or movie in the last few years.
I'd love it to be bigger but I'm not complaining since it was still great value for money considering.

I couldn't stop playing this. Amazing artwork and a great blend of low / high fantasy. Very interesting character design and a great battle system. I'm anticipating the sequels. This story is something else. Drop what you'd spend at Taco Bell for dinner and try out this game. I'm still reeling from the story and grueling difficulty, but very satisfied.
