REVEREND Reviews

A retro first-person shooter inspired by Blood, Duke Nukem 3D, and Rise of the Triad. REVEREND is a dark, twisted tale with religious undertones, terrifying creature design and one hell of a personality.

It feel more like a mod that should be free than a paid game and it's just painfully mediocre. Some of the levels I finished faster than when I c*m when I masturbate and believe me, that's fast. I almost finished it but I ran out of patience and I couldn't bother anymore, I'm going to jerk off now. I'd recommend Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer or Cultic a million times over this. They cost more but last a lot longer and are way more fun.

Nice bite-sized shooter with plenty of cool body horror

Having played some of the DOSMan Games already, i knew this is gonna be niche, but fun nonetheless. At first i was a bit disappointed with the art style, but decided to really kneel into it. And over the time it felt a lot more like alternative versions of BLOOD or Redneck Rampage. You know with photographs and renders being used for the sprites. Granted it still looked gaudy but it felt right with the setting and for what it was, a short, boomer shooter. Run, gun, get keys, gun some more, dont die. And for that it was fun, the levels are very well made, has puzzles, you dont have a chance to get stuck and you even find some secrets, you know what youre looking for ;D I grew up with games like Doom, Wolf3D to name the famous ones but also Depth Dwellers or Corridor 7, so this felt somewhat at home. what are you waiting for, go get the game already!

I've seen a lot of boomer shooters designed after the 90s style but when i get into this one, it really feels like it was dug up from 1995. everything from the early build engine level design, to flat sprites for fridges and tables instead of 3d models, and yelling "why the heck am i taking damage" only to find little teeth things on the ground fighting me. almost like an obscure unknown demo off a ps1 compilation cd and yet it plays well, feels satisfying, truly feels like an old game, and doesn't take too much time investment to play through. Can't wait for Revered 2.

I really enjoyed this game. Beside being just a joy to play overall, the nostalgic, old school feeling of it is on point. Booth in the design and game play, but not the least in its comedic elements as well. Would definitely recommend!

Easily the best DOSMan game I have played so far (haven't gotten to SATAN or Dead Trash yet, but I will). The environmental work and aesthetics are on point. This is a true love letter to games like BLOOD, the Reverend is so Caleb it hurts (in the best way possible, the voice work and one liners are great). The secrets to find are fun and worthwhile with there being lots of references to other creators, my favorite being finding ZlimBratski. The gunplay feels impactful and fun, the music drives the action and lends to the ambience a lot, although some of the tracks are a little short and loop sooner than you would expect, but it never detracted from the experience. The between level journal entries alongside the doom style map showing you progress through the levels was interesting and well done and gave that extra bit of flavor that some of the other games lack sometimes. The ending levels really start to branch out and show the creativity on offer with the standout being the penultimate before the final boss; a sprawling megastructure with multiple pathways to work your way through all the while showcasing the weird techno body horror to great effect. Even if you haven't enjoyed other DOSMan games too much I would greatly recommend giving this one a look, it is very much worth the small asking price. Looking forward to the sequel!

Edgy slop with a terrible save system, long loading times, & just a general lack of passion that shows in every facet of the game, from the bad re-load animations to the bullet spongy enemies & the upside-down crucifix for a crosshair that might have been edgy back in the 70's, but not in 2024 when this game was actually made.

REVEREND totally hits the mark, It reminded me a lot of Blood and Duke 3D, but it’s totally got its own thing going too. I really liked the map icons, they had this nice classic adventure game feel to them, which added a layer of charm to this visually appealing game. The controls are smooth, the pacing’s tight, and it doesn’t waste your time. Just straight up fun. It’s not super long, and that totally worked for me. It does what it came to do and gets out clean. Definitely worth picking up a copy! A great time!

Short 'n sweet. Reverend is a quick blast through an Eldritch-fuelled nightmare. Plenty of campy horror and old-school goodness. Plays very much how you'd expect, hunt down keys, find secrets, eliminate creepy foes along the way. Surprisingly decent level design and visuals too. 7/10 - I personally loved the tacky vibes this game offered and the Eldritch themed enemies and areas towards the end of the game were done really well! The soundtrack goes pretty hard too!

Great little game for a great little price. Zlimbratski sent me here and I was happy to find his Easter egg! A nice homage to Blood and am looking forward to the next Reverend chapter
