Short campaign, decent story, Old school feel but new school graphics, feels kinda Cyberpunk
Multiplayer is dead and I only played one match and it was on mobile... Luckily, there are LAN and bot matches available but the only thing you can customise is The map and number of players...
Should you pick it up? I think so, but get it on sale, I dont find it worth recommending at 5 buckarroos

Simple but a lot of fun. Plus you can play some bot deathmatch!

I'm really digging what Neon Shadow is all about. It's a throwback shooter that reminds me of FPS' from the Nintendo 64 and Sega Dreamcast era (specifically the N64 version of Quake 2, what with all the neon lighting they hit that port with). It's about the fundamentals of 90's shooters; here's some cool weapons, here's a level to run around in with multiple paths & hallways and some secrets, and here's some basic enemies: get through this level and kill the enemies then move onto the next one! It does all those things really well, especially for <$5! Particularly with a controller, it just feels very nostalgic (except for having to invert my aim; that was NORMAL back then, like how it should STILL be :P ).
There's also a multiplayer mode. Just like back in the day, it's more of a bare bones bonus than anything you'll spend serious time in. Its for online or you can throw bots in there, which is always nice, though they won't fool anyone into thinking they're human. They're very robotic in their aiming and movement. It would be more fun if the maps were well designed, but some of them don't even have proper continuous paths to keep you moving around a level. Some are just "go to this side, now go to that side", basically. Its weird. Worth a quick checking out, but not a main feature imo.
Visually, you can tell it's a mobile port (Ouya port, technically), since it has pretty simple geometry and textures, but again I don't mind that stuff - I wanted it to remind me of N64 games, and this looks like one of the better ones as played through an emulator so you can view it at modern resolutions. Usually moving at the faster/smoother frame rates you saw in Dreamcast shooters like KISS Psycho Circus. One thing that could've stayed in the past was the frame rate problems that crop up when too much action is taking place onscreen. Currently, at least - I'll remove this note if there's a patch that improves this in the future. The game mostly moves smoothly but takes a bit of a dive - sometimes, more than "a bit" - when you hit some explosive barrels when enemies are nearby. If there's a lot of enemies and barrels, expect it to turn into a slideshow for 2-3 seconds or so. Which isn't a deal breaker so much as it is just... inexplicable.
Overall, its a simple first person shooter (doesn't even have a jump), but a well made one for a very small price. It doesn't feel like cheap garbage, like how Gameloft makes FPS'; this one actually feels good. You'll be sliding around circle strafing your heart out just like the old days. But it is as throwback as they come; heck it's almost as much a first person Alien Syndrome-type arcade game as it is a love letter to FPS' of the mid-to-late 90's. If you're looking for solid, old-school, console-style FPS action for a small price tag, Neon Shadow is a winner. It definitely delivers a fun time.

New review
Gameclub ruining Neon Shadow on mobile and Tasty Poison Games dragging Cresent Moon Games out from being a publisher
We prefer playing this game on Steam PC for better performance
or pirating an old version on mobile

Wow. I actually doubted this game, I don't know how. Even though most of my time is spent with other things, the time i've used to play it was actually really fun (it was when my internet was about to kill itself, well in the process) and i'm telling you right now, it's not COD. It's unique, I found it quite easy in the beggining period, but i'm guessing that's just to introduce you to what's going on, which I really like.
Pros:
- Unique, very nice style
- Not too bad for graphics, looks nice in my opinion
- Nice story line, it is sort of alienish, like the ones that are used a lot in space etc but it's pretty unique in the way the developers presented it.
- Features, like health packs and ammo and things like that. I really liked the gun you start off with, I kept using it until later in the game where you started vsing much harder opponents.
Cons:
- This being the only con, it's my opinion and i'm not being biased in any way, I feel like more weapons could be added and more features could be added, this doesn't make the game bad in any way, it's just a suggestion.

Not bad, which is pretty good for an arena shooter these days, they all tend to load slowly, have slow cruddy code, or fail poorly in some way. Not Neon Shadow, however. It is downright competent.
It has a short but decent single player campaign and a small but fun death match, with mutant and one-hit kill variations. The AI is not great, but it does function better than many games like this; the bots continually move and fire. The sci-fi theme is executed well enough. Not a lot of weapons and they are not very creative, but they work and some attention was paid to balancing them.
It could do with some kind of robots / monsters in the multiplayer, an invasion mode. Also a jump function and maps that use that. And you could knock the engine / graphics up in quality without changing things too much, something like Neptune Arena, which looks similar but has some improvements to textures and more realistic lighting. And a longer more involved single player. Do those things and maintain (or improve) the bot competence and options, and I bet you could charge 10 -20 bucks, eh devs?

Pros: Good Gunplay - decent campaign challenge - graphic settings - bots for MP - secrets to discover in the levels
Cons: despite listed features, it's a pretty bare bones experience - campaign is short - MP maps are just repurposed levels and blend in with each other - obvious mobile game port - no real environmental interactions, you just shoot everything including walls and switches to open up other rooms/secrets
If you're looking for a quickie shooter to enjoy, it might be your cup of tea. Five bucks ain't too bad an asking price.
If this were the early 2010s and I played this on my phone, I'd probably be impressed,

A simple little indie shooter that packs a huge punch, 4 player multiplayer; online, LAN and against bots which is awesome, an awesome campaign that reminds me of System Shock 2. And the graphics are amazing. Overall a cheap shooter that doesn't dissapoint in any way.
That atomic cannon though(thats what I call it) is so satisfying to shoot, and that kick ass soundtrack, just perfect
Awesome job guys this game doesn't dissapoint me a single bit

It's a fastpaced old school style fps where speed is key and no regen health is present. Game keeps you going with appropriate electronic music and offers quite a good challenge. For an android game it's also pretty well ported over to PC and the controls are quite smooth overall but not perfect. Mouse input could feel more precise.
Game runs at 60fps but you can run it at higher hz thankfully. Game also kinda drags on for little bit too long. But overall if this is your kinda game, it's well worth it for the asking price.

This game is a port of an ios/android/ouya based robot-focused doom clone with around 4-5 weapons.
PROS:
Having this game on pc is amazing because the controls of the mobile ports are hard to use compared to keyboard and mouse. the game plays like doom 1-2 only simpler, with less weapons, and each level is rather small with your only objective being to destroy the generator and make it to the next level's elevator while finding broken walls to shoot, offering secrets.
That being said, the game is fun with each weapon serving a purpose. there's the ammo-regererating shotgun thats the basic weapon, the rapid-fire projectile-based plasma rifle, the grenade launcher (which is AMAZING and infinitely better than quake's) and the BFG-type weapon, and those are the only one's i've come across yet there may be more.
The game is definately worth the 5 bucks and the 4 player multiplayer, while it does work, may or not have cheat protection, and while the split screen from the mobile version is as of yet unimplimented, the bot matches are great, and I haven't tried out the LAN.
The multiplayer game modes are instakill, mutant, and deathmatch so far, and while basic and limited to 4 players they are fun. I'm not sure about the lag or if the servers are dedicated, but its fun.
The game is a basic pick up and play great for coffee breaks or for kids, since the main singleplayer has only robots. Just dont let them play deathmatch, that has blood.
ALSO THE GAME HAS BUILT-IN FOV. ITS NOT 4:3 FOV AND IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE VERTICAL, SO IT GOES FROM 60 TO 90. 90 being true 90, not 106.26.
CONS
Now for the cons. Game is probably pretty short and on my machine is capped at 60 fps, although since it's a unity engine game your mileage may vary. Being a Unity engine game, the only options are for built-in resolutions (nothing custom) and i didn't see a 4k option. Also, there is only one quality option, ranging from low to ultra, and a bloom, vsync, and head bob quality toggle as well as fxaa and smaa. the PC options are severely lacking, and I'd love to see a way to turn off the depth of field. I suggest using MEDIUM because that disables all the stupid graphics effects like depth of field while keeping the main textures and core graphics the best they can be.
The resolutions can easily be bypassed by holding SHIFT when clicking on the game's main .EXE, albeit with a few graphical glitches related to FLATS (specifically the blue robot blood on the floor)
also, i'm not sure if cheating will be a problem.
And also, the game, while being a measely 5 dollars, is a mobile game with much more simplicity and lack of features than pc gamers are used to, and it's a unity engine game.
Also, the multiplayer only supports 4 players and i'm not sure there's a way for steam friends to join you.
These are the things i'd like to see:
1. steamworks
the addition of steamworks will only improve the multiplayer.
2. more video options
from depth of field to other things, this basic addition is sorely needed.
3. PC optimized multiplayer
from bigger maps to more features to maybe more players, I'm sure that if pc-specific features are added this game will be hugely successful..
UNSURE
Maybe there isn't 144 hz functionality because I never saw it go over 60 fps, but I digress, I do have fastsync on although it never works.
Also, I'm very unsure if there's any 21:9 support.
TLDR
If you like doom's no-jumping, oldschool, secret-focused gameplay but want a game with simplicity that doesn't require much effort or risk, then play this game, i'm sure you'll enjoy it.
