While this game was released after Exit 8, is sets a good prequel setting and involves new anomalies with more mechanics involved compared to simply turning back and then back again in Exit 8. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Exit 8.

Platform 8 is a thrilling sequel to The Exit 8, delivering a haunting train ride through Japanese-inspired liminal spaces. The anomaly-hunting gameplay, where you spot eerie details like flickering lights or shadowy figures to progress, creates a gripping, immersive atmosphere. Its polished visuals and chilling sound design amplify the tension, making every car feel like a new puzzle. Though instructions could be clearer, the challenge of piecing together the rules adds to the intrigue. With a concise 15–60 minute runtime, it’s a perfect dose of psychological horror for fans of the genre, offering a fresh, heart-pounding experience that builds beautifully on its predecessor.

A-lot similar to The Exit 8, except with different rules. Instead of picking a path to go if there is an anomaly you just to need to either locate or survive the anomaly and make it to the other side. I think this was an awesome way to play the game and I had a lot of fun.

It's not a bad anomaly game but, I felt like I was left wanting a little more from it. The scares weren't really there for me and it didn't seem to hold much for a creepy atmosphere. It's still a decent run, so give it a shot.

This was my first real foray into anomaly-style horror gaming and I'd say it wasn't bad. There were one or two anomalies where it wasn't clear what I was supposed to do to get past (having to resort to a playthrough video), but I have no complaints otherwise. It was fun trying to figure things out and get all of the endings. Are there better anomaly games out there? Probably. But this isn't a bad one to start with if you're new to the subgenre

Better than The Exit 8 as it's more proactive with the anomalies than its successor(?). You don't have to search for minute clues to advance, but rather puzzle out a way to move onto the next car when an anomaly presents itself. I like this structure more than the anomaly hunting of (sometimes) tiny details that could easily reset your progress if you happen to miss one. Platform 8 also keeps track of how many anomalies you have left to survive after your initial escape, allowing you to easily get the remaining achievements. Thanks, game!

REVIEW #129 Platform 8 ---------- I've been following developer KOTAKE CREATE since their release of the excellent first-person spot-the-difference game, The Exit 8. However, this follow-up title, Platform 8, did require a little time for me to digest, mostly because of how vastly different the gameplay is formatted from almost anything else that I've played before. In Platform 8, you're stuck on a train that's actually a seemingly endless liminal loop consisting of a single train car. Every time that you pass through the car, various anomalies may occur. Some anomalies are simply events that happen around you, while many others play like mini-puzzles that you have to figure out in order to progress through the train. The initial goal is to successfully pass through 8 anomalous cars without failing any puzzles that you're presented with. Once you've done so, another game play mode is unlocked that features a more detailed ending, one that I thought was cleverly conceived
and even managed to seamlessly weave a simple narrative that connects itself to The Exit 8
. Once again, KOTAKE CREATE delivered aesthetically with Platform 8. The graphics and sound design are REALLY good here, with some visual effects having a dream-like quality that adds to the surreal atmosphere of the game. There's also a fairly small but good showcase of physics baked into some of the anomalies. With that said, I did find that some of the visual effects were surprisingly resource heavy for my PC. (Deca-core Intel i9 w/Geforce RTX 3060 Ti) The most polarizing aspect of Platform 8 is how the gameplay is introduced, as it makes very little effort to hold your hand and show you how to play. Some feedback that I've seen and heard from other players is that it can be a little frustrating to figure out what's going on at first, and I experienced that as well during my first 3-5 minutes of play. However, once I got a handle on what was going on, I found myself having a lot of fun with this title. There's also a few puzzles that I found to be so enjoyable and fun that they drove me to go back and play the whole game again.
The anomaly that involves playing hide and seek with a little girl is one of my favorites entirely because of the unnatural places where I end up finding her, like staring at me through a window while she's OUTSIDE of the fast-moving train.
I also never found myself getting stuck with any of the puzzles, with the ones that gave me the most trouble only taking a small handful of tries to figure out. The game is pretty short, taking about an hour for me to see everything that it offered, but I feel that making the experience any longer might've caused it to wear out its welcome. Therefore, I don't really consider its brief time length to be a negative aspect. Ultimately, as well-designed and enjoyable as I feel Platform 8 is, I still advise anyone considering a purchase to give yourself a few minutes to settle into how the game works, as it doesn't play like any other "anomaly" game currently out there (to my knowledge, at least.) However, that aspect of this adventure/horror title definitely plays in its favor, as Platform 8 is a wild and surrealistic ride that I found loads of fun to experience and hard to stop thinking about when I was done.

Well that was fun, but kinda laggy, cuz you can't disable SSR feature (reflections), what makes image kinda soapy and laggy for meh GPU. As for gameplay it was cool, but I think Exit 8 would be better in this case. 8/10

It follows a similar approach to the Exit 8 in a find the anomalies style game Unfortunately even though its looks like a pretty good and all around well made game, the reason i wouldnt recommend it its because : Since there is not a different approach between the scenarios "There is an anomally" and "There is not an anomally around" you can simply just go straight forward until you find the huge yellow paper that clearly instruct you to find the anomalies and then (after you find it) you, again, just go straight forwars again... This clearly makes the game too easy and short. The only reason to find it difficult in the start its because the game does not make the rules clear from the first place so until you figure it out by yourself, you gonna spend some minutes looking around for anomalies like a madman. This made me feel like the whole game was a visual representation rather than an interactive experience. Thats why i prefer Exit 8 rather than this. Conclusion : It was cool i guess but still i dont think its better than Exit 8 It should have been a little longer and more difficult (or at least add different difficulties on how the game should operate)

A game like The Exit 8 but a lot scarier in my opinion. That's because this time anomalies often just appear and you have to survive them. But you also have to find them from time to time. This is also a good, short and cheap horror game with an increased horror factor.
