The world itself is rich and meaningful. Exploring a dying planet filled with ruins, strange creatures, and powerful anomalies adds a real sense of mystery. Terrain and regions play a big role in your strategy, and the game just looks and sounds amazing the whole way through. The art style is distinctive, and the soundtrack is surprisingly immersive for a strategy game.

bought this and all dlc, got 6 hours of play now it wont load past the first screen where it says "endless legends: symboisis" basically the into screen then crash it was fun but not worth 20 bucks glad i didnt pay the full 100 bucks id be mad, gonna look up solutions but just uninstalling from steam, can even load without steam past that point by by passing and using the 20k,kb app file, the game is unreal kinds of fun but if you only get 6 hours, its kinda worthless, will change once i find a way to play but until then, beware idk if its me, steam, my pc, or just a space alien fucking with me romotely or what. but it is and astounding game do not get me wrong.

I never really got into it before because I was used to another certain 4x hex game series and I was being lazy about learning something new.. but now that series has messed up their TOS, I think this will be my go to to scratch the itch.

Would have been a cool strategy game but the UI is just too frustrating - to the point where the game is not challenging because of the strategy aspect but because of the tedious unit behavior/commands. I hope the UI gets reworked... until then I'll stay away.

Endless Legend is the only 4X , grand strategy game that I’ve actually played full matches in. It’s really fun and I like the overall mechanics and UI.

Game is at times buggy, UI is often counter intuitive, it lacks a lot of quality of life that similar games in the genre has, and often seems to have bad translations (to english) but I got it for 3$ so...

I wanted to thank the developers, I was playing the game last year and after an update it stopped working on the Steam Deck that at the time was my main computer. After me and a few others reported the issue the devs made a patch to make the game compatible with the SteamDeck. Even after 10 years the game still received support and I'm extremely grateful.
As for the game, its really good. I like the futuristic fantasy setting and the visuals are gorgeous and colorful, it aged like wine. I love that the main menu changes everytime and that it uses the in game 3D assets. The gameplay is really good, a bit slow at the early game especially for new players that may not know what to do. I really like the FIDSI system is simple to understand and it ties into everything in the game, I also really like how it also ties the other Endless games. I love that the different weapons you can give to a unit have 3D sprites that change the unit appearance. I also like that the different ingame missions have art specific to the mission, not just some placeholder.
The gameplay is deep with a TON to do, as should a 4x game. And to me, the match never goes stale like in other similar strategy games, even late game there are new things to explore and challenges. If anything getting the message that a player is soon to win only raises the stake more.
Anyways I really like this game and I hope that the next Endless Legend is as good if not more.

Gameplay Mechanics: 9/10
Narrative: 8/10
Graphics: 9/10
Sound and Music: 8/10
Replayability: 9/10
Innovation: 9/10
Endless Legend is one of the most stylish and imaginative 4X strategy games out there. Set in the dying world of Auriga, it combines deep mechanics with a truly unique aesthetic and lore. It’s Civilization meets high fantasy—with just the right amount of weird.
Gameplay mechanics are excellent. You’ll build cities, expand territory, manage populations, and engage in tactical battles on hex-based terrain. Each faction plays wildly differently, from time-shifting necromancers to underground insect colonies, offering real mechanical variety. Score: 9/10.
Narrative is unusually strong for a 4X game. Every faction has a rich backstory and its own questline, giving your empire a personal arc beyond standard conquest or domination. It’s a rare blend of grand strategy and storytelling. Score: 8/10.
Graphics are gorgeous. The stylized, painterly art direction makes the world of Auriga feel both alien and beautiful. Terrain morphs with seasons, units animate fluidly, and UI design is clean and sleek. Score: 9/10.
Sound and music are immersive and atmospheric. The soundtrack is memorable, especially the unique themes for each faction. Audio cues reinforce the game’s world and tone nicely. Score: 8/10.
Replayability is very high. With a ton of factions, modular tech trees, random maps, and story-driven progression paths, no two campaigns feel the same. Score: 9/10.
Innovation stands out. From seasonal effects to faction asymmetry to its blend of tactical and strategic layers, Endless Legend pushes the boundaries of the 4X genre. It’s bold, fresh, and full of smart design choices. Score: 9/10.
Bottom line: Endless Legend is a top-tier 4X strategy game that combines deep gameplay, striking visuals, and meaningful narrative in a way that few others do. If you’re looking for a fantasy-flavored alternative to Civilization, this one’s a must-play.

Endless Legend (EL) has become the hallmark which I judge all other 4X games against. It combines in-depth gameplay mechanics allowing the player to legitimately pursue alternative win scenarios other than the "murder-death-kill everything on the map" that many other 4X strategy games fall into towards the end of a campaign. Supremacy, Elimination, Diplomacy, Economic, Wonder, and other win scenarios can give a player or faction a myriad of options to win the game. Someone stomping across the map? Push for an economic victory. Vaulters held up in their cities racing for a science victory? Employ spies and diplomacy to win a diplomatic victory before they finish.
And this goes to the main thing that to me, makes EL stand out. The memorable and unique factions that have unique traits and drawbacks ensuring that each one gives a unique experience in playing the game. They are well balanced overall and the expansion factions tend to use a new play mechanic with that expansion as their main theme. Unforgotten and spying, Allayi and pearls, etc. Also the mixture of fantasy and sci-fi in one setting makes for a unique world and story within the larger Endless Universe. And this game ties into both Endless Space 2 and the new sequel, Endless Legend 2 that's just been announced.
The graphics are good and colorful with a nice aesthetic. It won't cause your graphics card to start smoking and are decent for the game but not it's strong point, particularity with the menus. The music is very memorable and beautifully done with a full orchestra in some pieces and unique instruments in others, tying in majestically with the factions they represent or the world at large. The combat system is also more interactive than what you'll see in Endless Space 2 or Humankind for that matter and I prefer it in many ways to those newer games.
I've definitely gotten my bang for my buck with the game and I still find myself coming back every so often to the world of Auriga, only to find myself clicking that turn icon one more time well into the night. Even with Endless Legend 2 on the horizon, I recommend picking up EL especially if it's on sale. If you're a fan of 4X strategy games that's looking for more depth and flavor than Civilization, then give EL a try. You won't be disappointed.
